Investing in 🛫 Vistara Cobranded cards 💳 worth the effort from LT view?

Hi Everyone,

I am thinking of investing my mental efforts on running with one of the better Vistara co-branded card offerings (maybe axis). From a long-term prospective (given Vistara will be rebranded to AI) - Do you think its worth investing mental energy on such cards? Or It is going to be a short term fad for me?

My "personal" domestic air travel are limited to twice a year and all my work related travel are charged to my Amex Corp. Finally, I do international travel for leisure 3-4 times a year so please consider such infomation while providing your POV. Current cards used for big ticket expense - Amex Gold Charge, Infinia and Magnus.

I appriciate your comments.

While absolutely no one knows what will happen to UK G - esp. for those who are coming from card status, we can assume (mostly hope and pray) that they will be given *G status with AI at least for the remaining duration of the UK G status if Axis - UK/AI don't continue that partnership. Globally I don't know may cards that give *G status and certainly none @ $125 rates.

*G can be super valuable on your international trips if you're traveling in Y - provided you favour *A.

At any rate there's nothing to "waste mental energy" on this. The card recoups it's value twice over with the J ticket that you get on signing up. So you can take that and hope for the best for the future.

I like your responses. Every time I read *G i had to tell my brain, he means GOLD.

Long term kuch nhi hota. Jab tak benefits mil rhe hai lete rho aur enjoy karo. Jis din gaya us din naya card aa jayega ise replace karne.

Thanks for detailed response.

I am also in same boat as OP. Never took any Vistara cards as focus was on completing Magnus monthly milestone and base reward rate for Magnus was better than even VI. Now with changes in Magnus evaluating VI. Honestly can't attach much value to one "J ticket" as I travel with family of 4 and doesn't make sense for only one to travel on J. I am just wondering should I divert all my spends on DCB with better base reward (3.33% vs 3% in VI) and 3x/5x smartbuy multiplier or focus on VI with milestone benefits. Unable to do the right math here. What's your view?

DCB any day. Even though HDFC has made it an awful card already, it would still give you better rewards and better flexibility than VI.

If anyone can confirm on insurance, utility, government spends, school fees (4 categories) whether Infinia, Axis Vistara, Axis Atlas do they give normal points and counted for milestone spends calculation?

If you're flying 25% on Vistara then I think CV Gold is a very good perk considering the business lounge access while flying eco. The membership tier and free business class ticket more than makes up for the 12k for me

Gold makes sense if you have substantial amount of travel on UK. Priority check-in, bags, luggage allowance are real benefits. Huge time saved. Every panwala today has 4 cards for lounge access.

But the J ticket on signup and the additional ones on spends have been a huge benefit for me. The refund of fees offer + the 10k bonus were cherries on top.

Still very confused 😢

What should I take/use post Magnus deval - DCB/Atlas/Vistara Singature?

Which card will still count govt spends and school fees for milestone?

You should chill. 🙂 Magnus devaluation hasn't happened as yet has it.

After that wait for the dust to settle before making a move for another card. Also you were asking about Vistara Infinite earlier not signature.

And probably none of them will give those rewards. So we will have to find ways to creatively make those spends.
