IOB Appreciation Post

I opened a new account in iob recently. They didn't add my PAN or Email to the account. Also had applied for rupay select from physical application they sent me visa classic. I applied again from app after activating the visa classic (need debit card to enable transactions in the iob app, thankfully visa classic was free).

Also have pestered the branch to apply for chequebook since that's the only way to get your free chequebook quota, and they've not done anything 🤡
Bina PAN ke account kaise open hua? Pan enter karne ke baad hata bhi sakte hai kya account se?

Bhai aapne form 60 kyon fill kiya? Agar nhi kiya to app mai problem hai kyonki form 60 ka use without PAN walo ke account ke liye hota hai.
Arre no. I didn't fill that form. I meant the account opening form. I gave that along with pan and aadhar photocopies. Idk what the geniuses at the branch did.

Ok in every a/c form Form 60 is auto stapled by default. I have recently opened account in CBoI, Canara and BoB and I specifically asked them to remove form 60 amd mentioned my income range.

Are you sure form 60 was not included in the form. They might have done that. Branch jao aur BM se cut to cut baat kr k clarification lelo. Did you mention ur income range?

Hi All,

Just wanted to share an appreciation post for one of our PSU banks.

I have always considered IOB as the best PSU bank because my friends had good experience with it and I opened an account with them to be used as my primary PSU bank account.

However, due to some issues I was never able to use UPI on my account (I was lazy to find out) and I didn't care because rest of the things worked perfectly (mobile+netbanking). One Friday I needed it for some txn and UPI was not working. I had some time on my hand so I set out to find why. Called customer care and they asked me to go to branch (as PSU bank customer support always does). However the lady gave me a branch no (which I expected to not work) to see if it can be resolved without visiting. I called and found a nice lady on the other end, she was exhausted (her tone and commotion on the other end) but was willing to help. To my surprise, within 10 mins she went through all the possible reasons for the UPI issue and found out that there was a second customer ID with my mobile no in another branch. She gave me two options,

1. Email a signed request (PDF scan) to change the mobile no.
2. Reach out to the other branch holding the other customer ID and ask them to close the account.

Now at this point I was more than happy with IOB, given that they have actually found the problem and gave me at least 1 solution where I dont have to visit them. If it were SBI they would have asked me to get a written application from Oval Office to be co-signed by the aliens in Alpha Centauri.

So I changed my mobile no; it being the easiest route and to confirm that it was indeed the problem. I sent the email, called her informing the same, she asked for OTPs and voila in 10 mins the UPI was up and running. Thanks Kind Lady.

6 Months after this, I found myself unable to use UPI because my secondary no did not have recharge (for SMS ofc) and I wasnt gonna waste Rs 400 just for that. So I set out to do the impossible. I didn't even know who owned the customer ID with my Main no. I called the branch Lady again, exchanged pleasantries and she informed that the old customer ID has a savings account with My Name in (redacted) University Branch. Now I went to this University but never opened an account in IOB there. I called my friend who had one and he reminded me of the glorious first week in my college where they took our roll nos to open accounts in bulk for all students. It was the time when Aadhaar and PAN were not married and PAN was not needed.

Excellent then, the lady gave me the branch no, which as you may have guessed it was picked up by an actual person. Again exhausted but still willing to help. I explained him the whole fiasco. He asked my Aadhaar No, but could only find one cust id and account. Same with PAN. Then he searched some more and concluded that I was mistaken (My trust in the Branch lady had grown stronger in the last 6 months). I asked him to search using my mobile no. and there it was my dormant acct with no txn ever done on it. He was surprised that he couldn't find it with Aadhaar and PAN, I didn't care.

He asked me to send a signed scanned request to activate the account (account couldn't be closed without Re-KYC) with scanned KYC form duly filled and signed. He asked me to go to nearest branch to get the KYC form but I found it on IOB's website in form section. I sent an email on Friday evening, informed him about the same. He asked me to remind him the next day (Working Sat). I called him the next day, he needed my aadhaar no again and promised to get it done by EOD. Come evening and there was silence, so I called him and to my surprise, he had solved the issue but forgot to inform me.

I immediately mailed my branch to change my no back to main mob no and called branch lady to confirm that I got my old cust ID suspended (mind you that the University Branch guy specifically told me that UPI will only work after suspension not just account closure). She changed my mobile no after due diligence. And voila within 2 days IOB solved a problem that would've taken weeks for other banks (including the private ones), I Hv had a similer issue take a year with indusind bank.

All this took Rs 13 for form printout and a few emails. Excellent Service from IOB. Two branches, different cities, hundreds of kilometers apart and consistent results.

Really surprised with IOB. I mean mind == Blown

Amazing stuff but SBI does same for me. All my queries are solved on call or by emailing branch manager - they're polite, speak impeccable English (I don't know Hindi and they don't know Marathi) so it works out well. I've had problem with debit card and net banking issue - it was resolved over simple emails and few calls.

But given your experience I'm tempted to try out IOB as secondary PSU account (I don't trust private banks or want to bank with them for bank account) - I was considering Canara earlier but this seems like good option too. How's app / net-banking exp?
