Is there a Mastercard variant of IDFC First Select Credit Card?

I requested IDFC by email to change the variant of my IDFC First Select Credit Card from Visa to Mastercard but they replied back saying:

"This is with reference to your email ,for credit card franchise change request, we do not have the functionality for converting Visa franchise to Mastercard franchise."

They have listed benefits of Mastercard on the official page of IDFC First Select Credit Card. I understand as per RBI directive they are supposed to provide the variant of customer's choice. Shall I complaint to RBI ombudsman?

i meant take ss of the idfc select MasterCard variant if anybody has received it and share it as reference
but will that be useful as the CC is saying "it is not feasible to change the card network from VISA to Master card". It might mean that they are ready to issue MC Variant but VISA to MC conversion is not possible.

Maybe while issuance, if OP might have asked, they would have given the MC variant.

Anyhow, nothing wrong in trying once by attaching a Screenshot of MC variant.

Complained on 16th Feb. Closed by Ombudsman today with below comments.

Regulated entity has confirmed that as per bank’s internal policy guidelines, it is not feasible to change the card network from VISA to Master card . Bank has clarified that both the cards have same facilities and global acceptance . It was communicated to you vide email dated 04.02.2024. As it is commercial decision of the bank, apparently no deficiency in service on part of bank is observe. Hence your complaint is treated as dealt with.

Which confirms the network portability is not yet in place. The RBI circular was only a draft circular.
@vega this .

Well none of these match the criteria I am looking for...LTF and complimentary golf.
All MC world cards have complimentary golf.
Icici wealth debit card is free for wealth accounts, HDFC millenia debit or credit card can be ltf depending upon your relationship with the bank. Yes select is like 399 a year and FYF if you spend 10k in first month.
Swiggy card is 500 per year.
I have these at my home so i’m saying my experience. Each golf lesson costs around 1-2k and game costs 4-6k. Even if you’re paying 500 rupees a year that’s no brainer to get these cards for golf.

Actually I have mastercard with golf benefits (CC and DC), can I just go to the golf course and show the card and request them to teach me or let us play? Should I carry some equipments like golf kit which costs ₹18k (decathlon).

Got response saying the RBI circular was only a draft circular asking for feedback. There is no directive from RBI which mandates change of network and it has not been implemented.

I tried searching for RBI circular but I could locate only the draft circular and no update after that.
Was this Bank's reply?

You have to call Mastercard concierge at 1800 102 6263 and ask them to book a lesson first. Tell them the Date (has to be at least 5 days ahead), time, golf course.

I get your point, but first I am exploring the complimentary options. Then I will look into the paid ones.

I am currently using the below cards for complimentary lessons:
1. Citibank Rewards
2. Yes Bank Premia (now Elite)
3. IndusInd Exclusive DC

I have other cards which also offer complimentary golf but then those are spend based like IndusInd Pinnacle, ICICI Sapphiro, etc.

Look at reason of denial they have cited, both the cards have same facilities. In case of rupay and visa there is the UPI.
That is not the reason for denial. That is additional info to convince us that they are giving best service.

The reason for denial is they do not have the option to change network once card is issued. Since RBI has accepted this reason, it confirms that the credit card portability is not in effect yet.

One more thing, I was also under the impression that all MC world cards have complimentary golf but not seeing it in HDFC Regalia. Any idea?

yes, it is
@imdjay @sjmajumder

I have sought clarification from Mr. Gunveer Singh, the chief of the Department of Payment Settlement System, regarding the Draft Circular dated July 5, 2023, wherein it was stated that the instructions (credit card network portability) would come into effect from October 1, 2023.

Hopefully, he replies or I will resort to alternatives. I am resolved to put the foregoing discussion to an end. It may take some time, as I am busy with other clients. A normal response has been sought.
