Jewellery purchase using CC from big stores

You may be surprised to know that there are millions of people who sell shares at a loss.
During Lehmann bros crisis, thousands sold houses at a loss
Yes, but they bought hoping to gain something. You said people buy gold for gain and I am just saying that people buy all assets (including gold) for gains. Then why to type cast just gold buyers.

Gold jewellery has only ORNAMENTAL VALUE,
Very little UTILITY value.

Gold does not pay any interest, rent or dividend but it is still considered an asset, only because it is a hedge against inflation/ currency depreciation
yeah correct, but if you see latest trend people going after this gold loan has spiked up more than 50% this year due to less interest rate compare to personal loans, and I heard finance department seems to be thinking to increase interest rates for gold , its an asset and these appreciation is highest too especially in india

Do you know if there is any restriction of buying jewellery for 6 months since account opening on amex plat travel which I read in some other threads?
If you ask Amex CC, they will say yes, and you can't buy jewelry within 6 months. Sometimes, the TXN gets declined only. My friend tried at a local jewelry shop for testing, and the TXN was declined. However, once he tried in PNG, the TXN went smoothly on the same day. you can test your card with 1rs txn by asking the shop to see if your new Amex card is working.

Then you should buy the shares of the gold loan companies which are milking these suckers, who give gold jewellery worth 1 lac in exchange for 75000 cash.
They don't get any rent for the gold jewellery given, but they have to pay interest of more than 12% on the 75000 cash received

1) Buy APV, Flipkart, Myntra gift cards using Infinia Smartbuy, Amex PT GYFTR, Tata Neu Infinity, etc

2) Use them to buy Gold coin brands such as Tanishq (Mia), Joyalukkas, Kalyan, BRPL, etc from Myntra and Flipkart.

3) Malabar and Joyalukkas GCs also available in AJIO which provides discounts upto 10% for different credit cards. AU cards with activated features works best here.

4) Exchange these GCs at shops for buying jewellery at current market price plus making charges and GST.

5) For Tanishq store, use Tata Neu Infinity card for 5% additional neu coins which can again be used for buying jewellery.

6) For other stores like Malabar, Kalyan and Joyalukkas use Amex PT to make payments towards MC and GST. You will not get MR points but you can easily hit the 4L milestone.

7) If you don't travel much, you can also consider redeeming Infinia points and Amex MR points for Tanishq voucher and use them to buy Jewellery.

8) You can also consider enrolling in a Gold Savings plan such as Malabar Scheme and pay installments via APV if you have more time in your hands.

If you don't want to buy any gold jewellery can you encash the gift voucher in the gold jewellery shop?

But later realised that their making charge is atleast 4-5% higher than other chains so we would probably avoid Tanishq altogether for this purchase.
Really? I find tanishq to have lesser making charges than joyallukas, caratlane and giva
Tanishq store managers have the option to waive upto 25% making charges on gold/studded and upto 20% off on diamond jewelry. This is usually not advertised openly but provided discreetly to loyal customers. Add to this the 2~6% Encircle rewards + 5% NeuCoins CB, and it effectively zeros out the making charges

Please don't ever buy diamonds, the resale price is 40% less even after 1 second

VS/VVS diamonds is the biggest scam perpetrated by De Beers. SI diamonds are way cheaper, (mostly) retain their resell value, and unless you use a 10x magnifying glass, are visually impossible to discern from VS/VVS

Diamond ♦️ is itself a scam by de beers. They social engineered it by glorifying a man should atleast spend 3x a monthly salary for a diamond wedding ring 💍 publicised with a tag line that diamonds are forever

I think encircle rewards are not there anymore after the neu coins came in

Just had a word with them - Pre and Post 21 days from Bday month - you can get 10% discount on making charges on purchase of jewelry above 1.5 Lacs. Anything below this amount will fetch 6% discount. Additional discount as you mentioned is for loyal customers only.

What signifies loyal customers? Is it based on certain amount or number of times one buys in a year?
