Jio Recharge Plan Hike - Effective 3rd July 2024

Guys, yesterday I was checking, and the data booster plan of 69Rs and 139Rs was not showing at all. I recharged with this new 458Rs plan (calls+sms only) in the hope of recharging it with 69 RS for basic data usage. I was like WTF ! why the data booster plans were not showing. However, today it is visible. Not sure anyone else faced this thing.

This technical problem of recharge not visible is there since 2017. This keep on going many times. Even the vouchers we have disappear but as we are use to such things since 2011 we don't worry much. They appear/disappear and cycle goes on. Problem is if they don't appear back for long times then it's permanent.

IT world mein har second kuch na kuch badalta hai. Kai baar server change karney hotey hai toh kuch der ke liye links down karney padtey hai. Kai baar coding problem ki wajah se kuch data sahi se kaam ni karta toh usko theek karney tak down karna padta hai.

Person working at BSNL as they have got the internal note. By March BSNL has to complete 4G roll out for Phase 2 which is going on. Tariff hike put on hold till March and then boom. Many old plans to be removed or benefits cut. Put on hold due to Delhi elections currently else it was decided after Jan 26, 2025. Once, Phase 3 is completed and 5G rollout starts you will see tariffs of BSNL nearly equal to what Jio has today and Jio will be 10-15% higher by this year end.

The GMs at BSNL have been directed to have atleast 250 ARPU in Tier 1 cities while minimum 150-175 in Tier 3 and 2 respectively. We all know what kind of network BSNL has but they have to charge to get better as no company can provide better network with cheap tariffs. Telecom is a capital hungry sector. Currently everything on hold at BSNL and before budget Govt don't want to face anger of middle class. So effectively April 2025 i.e new FY, you will see BSNL also joining the tariff hike race. They haven't participated much in last two hikes.

But remember they will continue to look cheaper than others both in terms of price and QoS.

Govt owns 100% of BSNL and 34% of Vi. So the most logical solution for BSNL would have been to have a network sharing agreement with Vi, with BSNL users using Vi existing 4G network at T-1 and t-2 cities and Vi users benefiting from the vast BSNL 2G network at T-2, T-3 and beyond. Win-win for BSNL, VI and their customers. But it would not be done as that would affect the business interest of Jio and Airtel.

Govt owns 100% of BSNL and 34% of Vi. So the most logical solution for BSNL would have been to have a network sharing agreement with Vi, with BSNL users using Vi existing 4G network at T-1 and t-2 cities and Vi users benefiting from the vast BSNL 2G network at T-2, T-3 and beyond. Win-win for BSNL, VI and their customers. But it would not be done as that would affect the business interest of Jio and Airtel.

The 34% in Vi is a non-executive stake which they got automatically for AGR dues. They can't pressurize Vi to have a sharing pact with BSNL until Vi defaults of spectrum payments or license fee. So Govt stake in Vi is for namesake and once they payout AGR dies, Govt will be out. It is/was a temporary move by Govt to keep Vi afloat as sinking would have made banks lose everything they loaned to Vi.

BSNL load will make Vi 4G unusable. People will go with BSNL for cheap tariffs but use Vi network only resulting in more loss to BSNL as outflow will increase at BSNL part and their share of every recharge will be near to zero.

Things come and went by. It came in 2016 and now still going on with. Keep waiting but what for? I mean you can't wait for a thing that was already there. Doing nothing timely and then blaming Govt, corporates suits only one class of people and you better know which one they are. 🙂

Otherwise I'm already busy doing enough for myself, but pray tell if I ask government any question for all the taxes I pay, I will be given sermons by people like you who are happy blaming the victim.

Winners make their own path and never wait for others to give them helping hand. So try to be like one. It's all mindset. Best of luck. I know over time your thinking will grow and you will have a better version of yourself when you have good financial condition where you won't even care what prices are.

I lived in a first world nation for more than decade getting benefits of taxes. My retirement fund can take care of 3 families. I'm here in India for family reasons.

I'm concerned about poverty and corrupted society. I'm beyond making money for myself
