Kotak White Unboxing

Prologue: When the Kotak executive reached out to me for a card upgrade, initially he offered Royal Signature as LTF read more about this here (https://www.technofino.in/community/threads/kotak-royale-signature-unboxing.1754/). I was not interested in Royal Signature, instead I was more inclined towards having Kotak White as LTF. He mentioned that Kotak white comes with an annual and a joining fee and I can't have it as LTF. I mentioned that since I am a Privy league customer, I should be eligible for the Kotak White as LTF. He asked me for some time and got back to me with this image.

He confirmed that I can get this card as LTF and requested me for the consent to proceed with the online application. Since this is what I wanted, I didn't think twice and gave him a go ahead.

Within two days card was approved and delivered to me in the matter of 5 days.

Look and feel: The card looks premium in white and Kotak insured to follow the same theme over the leaflets and other supporting documents which came with the card.

Primary reason behind applying this card was the priority pass membership. I was not interested in their milestone benefits and other features of this card is nothing to talk home about.

Twist in the tale:
After receiving Royal Signature and Kotak White in a matter of a week, initially I was ecstatic, however, somewhere in my heart I had a hunch that something was not right and I should check with the customer care about the LTF statuses of these cards.

Surprise Surprise: Got in touch with the customer care executive and got a shocker of my life, according to the customer care executive none of these card were showing as LTF and both annual and joining fees were applicable on both of them 😵. I was taken aback with this revelation and felt cheated by the executive who processed my Kotak White application and another one who instead of cancelling my Urbane card recommended Royal Signature as an upgrade for Urbane.

I was duped by not one but two Kotak employees and there was nothing I could do against both of them. Instead of cribbing, I chose to cancel both the cards, asked customer care to cancel them. Raised a ticket on the Kotak portal and described my ordeal to them with all the evidences I could gather for these cards to prove that these cards were promised to as LTF cards.

Finally, Kotak cancellation team reached out to me and offered me a deal, they mentioned that both of these cards come with annual and joining fee, however I can get Royal Signature converted to LTF. Kotak white on the other hand can't be offered to me as LTF, hence they were compelled to cancel it.

I didn't haggle much as except the priority pass membership there was nothing which Kotak White offered more in comparison with Royal Signature.

Someone has rightly said "once bitten twice shy", just to save myself from the similar experiences in future, I asked Kotak to share the LTF status of Royal Signature card in writing with me over an email. They complied and shared the same over an email.

Finally Kotak White was cancelled, and Royal Signature remained. Though, the happiness of having Kotak White was short lived, however it was an experience in itself.

After a lot of escalations to customer care, nodal officer and principle nodal officer, finally Kotak customer care agreed to make this card LTF for me. Thank you all for your support in this fight.

Sad to hear that you have to cancel white card. But in the image you had shared it is clearly mentioned 0 joining and annual fees so how can they deny it later?
They mentioned that it is offered as LTF to Optima and Insignia customers, mine was a Prima variant and the executive who offered this card to me as LTF might have not checked my account variant before applying for this card on my behalf.

This is the worst thing about Kotak, they are offering it LTF to 811 account holders but not to Privy League customers. Sometimes it is difficult to understand bank policies.

Yep, I have been associated with Kotak since last 12 years, however can't comprehend their credit card related policies till date.
Yeah quite confusing 😆
 
What happened to your is surprising and shouldn't have happened this way
You should have escalated

At best they could have taken action against the erred employee, however thought of someone getting reprimanded due to negligence made me change my mind. After all we all are humans and we are bound to make mistakes.

First of all after reading you post I thought of keeping myself quite since my idea is also in the same way that someone's job should not be at stake due to his negligence that too for a Credit Card which has almost 0% impact in our life. Having said that we actually don't know the dark truth behind these kind of executives who actually sell the Credit Cards by fooling us. Same scenario happened with me for Yes First Exclusive Card & initially my thinking was same as yours' but later it got changed completely. So please read the post from the below mentioned link, you will also regret for your decision of White cancellation instead of chasing that employee.


Coming to Kotak White, I have Kotak 811 for last 4-5 month, got pre-approved offer for it but not for LTF. Now I have got an executive who has actually converted the card to LTF as "Annual Charge=0" "Joining Charge=0" & later even it was confirmed by the Customer Care executive in Black & white. This is the reality of Kotak Credit Cards, it all depends who is actually processing your card & how much knowledgeable he/she is. What you said about Privy League is on papers, but reality is, if you know the correct person you can be given Kotak White LTF even on 811. Here in Kolkata, I searched about 10 branches & every branch executive said me the same thing about Kotak White(What they said you about Privy Insignia & all) but only one guy knew the reality & by chance I came across him & the job was done.
@StanRoute66 please confirm about your White Status who also have 811.
 
Someone on this forum fighted to get his yes bank card ltf as customer care told him. That.... After getting the card the came to know its paid... He fighted with proofs and got his card converted to ltf... If u have proofs... Dont leave them just like that fight till principal nodal level and rbi.... Its worth it to teach them a lesson...

I have Gotten WHITE LTF on my Kotak 811 Account . The screenshot you shown of consent was given to me as well .
The truth is that the customer care doesn't see LTF status of any Card . I had also called them and asked them casually one day , is my WHITE LTF or not ? They said no sir , it is not . Then I emailed through Kotak netbanking regarding the charges of my card , and within 2 weeks , I got an Email saying your Card is indeed Non-chargeable and LTF pricing .
Always get LTF confirmation in writing/email , as @souvikdey2002 had guided me to do.

Thanks for the info StanRoute, now I can put up my case more strongly. I have already raised a concern with Nodal officer and waiting for the further communication from their side.

I have had a very similar incident with Axis Bank Flipkart Credit Card. Customer care executive told me, and also sent me via whatsapp that the card will be LTF, but it wasn't. I had to cancel it altogether.
Seems like, we need to raise a complaint with RBI in future regarding such phishing scams run by bank employees.

Rightly said Ashish, we customers are at mercy of bank's executives. Fortunately for me, I have all the records of communication which took place between me and the Kotak employee. As a last resort, I will share all these documentary evidences with the Nodal officer.

Also, Axis' customer care sucks big time, I also tried multiple times to covert my Flipkart Axis to LTF but they didn't budge. I have made up my mind to close this card as soon as the yearly fee becomes due.
