Kotak White Unboxing

Prologue: When the Kotak executive reached out to me for a card upgrade, initially he offered Royal Signature as LTF read more about this here (https://www.technofino.in/community/threads/kotak-royale-signature-unboxing.1754/). I was not interested in Royal Signature, instead I was more inclined towards having Kotak White as LTF. He mentioned that Kotak white comes with an annual and a joining fee and I can't have it as LTF. I mentioned that since I am a Privy league customer, I should be eligible for the Kotak White as LTF. He asked me for some time and got back to me with this image.

He confirmed that I can get this card as LTF and requested me for the consent to proceed with the online application. Since this is what I wanted, I didn't think twice and gave him a go ahead.

Within two days card was approved and delivered to me in the matter of 5 days.

Look and feel: The card looks premium in white and Kotak insured to follow the same theme over the leaflets and other supporting documents which came with the card.

Primary reason behind applying this card was the priority pass membership. I was not interested in their milestone benefits and other features of this card is nothing to talk home about.

Twist in the tale:
After receiving Royal Signature and Kotak White in a matter of a week, initially I was ecstatic, however, somewhere in my heart I had a hunch that something was not right and I should check with the customer care about the LTF statuses of these cards.

Surprise Surprise: Got in touch with the customer care executive and got a shocker of my life, according to the customer care executive none of these card were showing as LTF and both annual and joining fees were applicable on both of them 😵. I was taken aback with this revelation and felt cheated by the executive who processed my Kotak White application and another one who instead of cancelling my Urbane card recommended Royal Signature as an upgrade for Urbane.

I was duped by not one but two Kotak employees and there was nothing I could do against both of them. Instead of cribbing, I chose to cancel both the cards, asked customer care to cancel them. Raised a ticket on the Kotak portal and described my ordeal to them with all the evidences I could gather for these cards to prove that these cards were promised to as LTF cards.

Finally, Kotak cancellation team reached out to me and offered me a deal, they mentioned that both of these cards come with annual and joining fee, however I can get Royal Signature converted to LTF. Kotak white on the other hand can't be offered to me as LTF, hence they were compelled to cancel it.

I didn't haggle much as except the priority pass membership there was nothing which Kotak White offered more in comparison with Royal Signature.

Someone has rightly said "once bitten twice shy", just to save myself from the similar experiences in future, I asked Kotak to share the LTF status of Royal Signature card in writing with me over an email. They complied and shared the same over an email.

Finally Kotak White was cancelled, and Royal Signature remained. Though, the happiness of having Kotak White was short lived, however it was an experience in itself.

After a lot of escalations to customer care, nodal officer and principle nodal officer, finally Kotak customer care agreed to make this card LTF for me. Thank you all for your support in this fight.

I opened 811 account today. Any tips to get white asap?
Few folks received offer for White in the Kotak 811 app in the past. I recommend waiting for an offer from Kotak's side within the app. Also do not opt for any other Kotak card if you wish to go for White, as once a customer opts for a Kotak card, Kotak stops sending any CC offers to them.

And what about the monthly transactions and MAB you maintained on this account?

After reading ur story i would like to share mine own story with u. It was april 2021 and at that time i had no credit card i did wanted one but cant get it as i didnt had any credit history but i had 811 account with kotak and one day i received a call frok kotak and she was offering my dream different cc but i refused as i didn't had 15000rs for fb but she said that i can break my fd once i receive my physical card at that time i knew thats alnot possible as my brother had sbi secured credit card so told her but she said kotak had different policy and u can break ur fb once u receive physical card so i agree and open an 15k fd and after 1 week i received my card and call customer support to close my fb and customer support said ur card will be closed if u break fb so i told him that ur executive told me i cam break fb and he said sir thats not correct ur card will be closed if u break fb and since then i dont trust hdfc and kotak agents

Kotak customer care executives aren't trust worthy at all. Recently, one of my colleague having an NRO account with Kotak applied for the Kotak White and the RM promised it as an LTF card. He duly provided all the documents and signed all the form, there was a silence of more than a week from RM's side in between and when he followed up with him, RM's tone changed and he said he will have to take approvals at different levels to make the card LTF.

No. Kotak customer care executive are trust worthy. Their calls are recorded. However, the branch employees, from where you mostly get these marketting calls, are highly untrustworthy. One should NEVER trust them, and always record the conversation

There is no point in keeping paid cards of Kotak due to their in general uselessness. Though I am an LTF hunter but I don't mind paying fee for cards like SBI Cashback, Axis Ace and Airtel Axis. These cards give 10 times more than what they usually charge.

I have seen customer care executives making false promises on the call, experienced this during my first credit card related interaction with them, where the executive promised me an LTF card and later on sent me a paid card. This has not only happened once but twice.

That was not the customer care. That was the bank employee from a branch. They are mostly frauds.
I know this because, after I myself got betrayed with false Ltf promise, after grievance, I got call for Ltf upgrade. They upgraded. To confirm if the upgraded card is Ltf, I called customer care again. They confirmed that it was LTF, and also informed me that retention teams, customer care, calls from escalation teams always call on recorded line. So that call is recorded.
