If I can make payment using CC then why shall I opt for card that only can be top-uped with savings A/c bal, especially using UPI?
If you get card discounts specific to Orbit card on quick ecommerce platforms like you currently get for credit and debit cards I'm sure you wouldn't mind loading balance into the card through your savings account and doing the transaction.

So, you mean to say, Orbit has the provision to claim the fund lies in the offline wallet which is stored in the chip of physical card. In case of loss/theft, offline wallet balance can be recovered/refunded in case of Orbit Wallet by just blocking the card?
No, once the balance is present physically on the chip of the card there is no way to be able to get it back without physically having the card in your possession. What I mentioned was about unclaimed balance of the NCMC wallet. This is a portion of your online balance on which a lein is marked when you choose to recharge your NCMC wallet offline balance. This balance is not written onto your card until you perform the balance update transaction by tapping your card on the NFC reader. So if your card is lost after you do the online NCMC recharge and the lein marking but you haven't performed the balance update by tapping your card, then if you get your card blocked, Orbit will remove the lein and move back that unclaimed balance into your online wallet balance.

But this feature is available on Chalo with CC Avenue. Then why you said him that tapping the card physically is only the way?
Chalo app can only write the balance onto your card through NFC, but that recharge of balance from online to offline wallet is a backend feature which you would have to perform using the platform provided by your issuing bank, be it SBI, PNB, Axis, HDFC, etc. Chalo app doesn't act like a POS machine which can deduct the funds from your savings bank balance through the tap and pay feature and then transfer the balance to your offline wallet and write it on your card using NFC.
Tokenization is not that simple in case of NCMC card, whose working model is to use offline wallet only which is stored in physical chip.
I only mentioned as per what I got to know from the CEO. After tokenisation it would be like having the card embeded into your phone, much like how you have an esim instead of a physical sim. The offline balance is stored on the chip inside the phone just like it would be on the card and loss of phone would lead to loss of NCMC balance just like the loss of the card would be.

still some of the transit operators are acting as close looped system as they have done exclusive aggreement, where the issuer & acquirer is same. No other card is allowed to be used.
I agree, exclusive NCMC network arrangements kill the whole idea of NCMC and are counter-productive. It's no different from a closed loop system in that case.
Ohh, UPI ID on card doesn't seem good IMO. Let's see time will tell.
I don't see any harm in that, it can't be misused since it will allow only adding of balance using the id, there won't be any option to deduct balance from the wallet. This id is only for the lein marked portion of the online component of the offline NCMC balance and not for the main online balance.

One can use own contactless national/ international credit card or debit card or reloadable prepaid card, the digital wallets/ mobile applications (Google Wallet/ Pay, Apple Pay, Samsung Wallet) supported on NFC enabled devices including Smartphone, smart watch, or wearable, or an OMNY card.

Cards issued on the Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, UnionPay, and JCB networks, all are accepted there.
Now let's compare the Population and commuter volume of USA to India, notice the time required per online query between the AFC gate and issuing bank's server and that taken for instant offline balance deduction in India. This lag makes a big difference in the number of commuters that can enter and exit the station in a given duration and has a cascading effect on crowding. Also compare the internet connectivity reliability (up time) between USA and India, in the event of network being down, the online queries will fail, no one will be allowed through the AFC gates and the crowding will be unmanageable. The offline wallet balance is a perfect India specific use case even though it adds an additional step of physical balance update.

May be, yes. But Orbit can't bring card dis like ICICI, SBI.

Card dis come & go, but we commute on daily basis, right?

Rest, time will say.
No, once the balance is present physically on the chip of the card there is no way to be able to get it back without physically having the card in your possession.
Exactly...

It's obvious, it can and must be recovered easily as it's still not stored in the chip.
Chalo app can only write the balance onto your card through NFC,
Yes and right now that's enough, isn't it?

Mostly we're using pre-paid card only not credit card.
but that recharge of balance from online to offline wallet is a backend feature which you would have to perform using the platform provided by your issuing bank, be it SBI, PNB, Axis, HDFC, etc. Chalo app doesn't act like a POS machine which can deduct the funds from your savings bank balance through the tap and pay feature and then transfer the balance to your offline wallet and write it on your card using NFC.
Yes it's not working in that, RN we can recharge and then update the balance.

It can not deduct online balance from our savings and credit card account and get it added & updated in offline wallet.
I only mentioned as per what I got to know from the CEO. After tokenisation it would be like having the card embeded into your phone, much like how you have an esim instead of a physical sim.
Got it. Seems like CEO is planning it secretly. 😅
Trying to be the first co. to be live with that feature for this first time in India. That's understandable.
The offline balance is stored on the chip inside the phone just like it would be on the card and loss of phone would lead to loss of NCMC balance just like the loss of the card would be.
That's Ok, anyday convenience.

There wouldn't be the need of physical card then. If they are planning something like this updation wouldn't be required the way we are doing now, right?
I agree, exclusive NCMC network arrangements kill the whole idea of NCMC and are counter-productive. It's no different from a closed loop system in that case.
Yes bro, that's hypocrisy only.
I don't see any harm in that, it can't be misused since it will allow only adding of balance using the id, there won't be any option to deduct balance from the wallet. Ohh let it come, then we will discuss about its disadvantages, if any.

It's not about the population & internet connectivity, it's only about the intent and dedication and ease of making txns/convenience, it's very much manageable, atleast i think so. I haven't given just an example of USA, there are many more other than that, Japan, Hongkong, Seoul.

Better if you check their working model as well, especially their pre-paid card.

P.S: They way they did exclusive aggreements and defeated the purpose of NCMC not only that launched NCMC without full fledged system even after long long years say many thing.

RuPay HCE-NFC tokenization will be done by LivQuik. Orbit wallet is a LivQuik-powered RuPay card.

The good thing is that this feature will also be available in the Orbit app.

NPCI was created for all this purpose. In the next decade, NPCI will likely establish 50-60 such fintech companies that offer HCE-NFC tokenization features like GPay and SamsungPay.

And in the next decade, you'll also see many companies going bankrupt due to the competition. 🤣🤣

Don't stress so much, NPCI is developing everything; it just takes time. In Japan, Hong Kong, and Seoul, offline payments like NCMC are used more commonly.

If NCMC payments can be made directly from smartphones, it will become even easier. NPCI is working on that as well.

Japan's Visa/Mastercard has integrated Suica into their cards. In India, Visa/Mastercard are planning to create their own NCMC. In the end, nothing might happen, and it seems likely that Visa/Mastercard in India will integrate RuPay's NCMC into their cards

Yes, it's known.

Let's see. Otherwise it doesn't make any sense.

NFC will not establish 🤣 others will try to add such feature because of competition.

G-Pay had announced through its blog that the Rupay will be live by the end of 2024. Nothing, all baseless. 😂 Now, don't say it takes time, it does but that doesn't they started working from GFF only they were working way before and by end of 2024 was max expected time frame.

Unicorn 🦄 to 🌽 🤣

Let's see, how it goes. But right now, it's just a mess and not that convenient. That's all.

Ya, definitely others will come for the competition.

GPay also took Almost 2 years for Visa after the announcement.

Google Pay announced the rollout of NFC-based tokenized card payments in India on September 19, 2019 -

it supported Visa cards issued by HDFC Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, State Bank of India, Standard Chartered, and Axis Bank, with plans to extend support to Mastercard and RuPay cards in the following months. 🤣 🤣

Google Pay begins testing NFC-based payments feature via credit and debit cards on September 1, 2020 -

Android Police first spotted the development on August 28. Right now, only some Axis Bank and SBI cards on Visa are supported. While the feature has reportedly not rolled out to all users -

Note - I remember that in 2021, Google Pay actually started rolling out the NFC feature for everyone with Visa Card, but with limited banks. Before that, it was only available to a few selected users.

Google Pay and Mastercard announced their collaboration to enable tokenized card payments in India on December 21, 2021 -

Note - Even with Mastercard, it was initially launched with only a few limited banks. I mean, even now there are only a few banks, but earlier it was even fewer.
