Life after magnus?

In past, Axis re-valued the Magnus and Atlas. This devaluation could be an exercise to get rid of weak hands and gamers and then later re-value again the Magnus/Reserve.

Atlas being travel focused, people still flocked to Magnus rather than Atlas. So, they may want to shift few user base to Atlas.
Well said. This is a shake out to get ride of non hnis

LTF thankfully. There was a time when HDFC (some branches) gave LTF Infinia to government employees. She and her colleagues had no interest in taking LTF infinia despite RM offering her. (Nobody knew the benefits) My jaw dropped when i got to know this and immediately made her apply. 😅

Some of her colleagues have LTF infinia and get no benefit beyond the 3.33% and lounge access. I tried to educate them about smartbuy but realised not everyone puts in effort to maximise returns like us 😅
this was when ?

I got an LTF DCB last year. Tried to upgrade it to Infinia couple of months ago, before getting Magnus (which I got in June only) but HDFC CC told me I don't fit the criteria as limit needs to be 8L (current limit is 5L). Haven't got a LE offer yet on DCB and have stopped spending on it as well since 2 months. Is there any other way to get Infinia now other than this?

On Magnus usage, have hit 2 months milestone so hopefully will get 50k ER which will recover the joining fees. Will only use it now when I know for sure I will hit 1L milestone otherwise will shift my spends to DCB. Buying GV from smartbuy with DCB will still give more returns than buying from gyftr with the new rates.

I'm in the same boat. Want to understand why do you want to upgrade to Infinia? As I see it most of us who have a LTF DCB, would be having a Magnus or similar card offering mostly unlimited domestic lounge access. So that's not a consideration for shift to Infinia. The reward rates for non-Smart buy purchases (general ones) is 3.33% for both DCB and Infinia. Smartbuy portal with all the stupid restrictions is anyway out for me - whether its DCB or Infinia. In DCB one gets vouchers on spends of 80k in a month.

I am somehow not able to make the switch in my mind why should one go for Infinia paid when LTF DCB is doing all that Infinia is doing and much more (if we remove the only differentiator of Smartbuy out of the system) - I think paying 12.5K for Infinia if you have a LTF DCB isn't worth the switch unless the reward rates change or there is a redemption change. Am happy to be corrected of my understanding above.

Off topic can we buy gold using tata neucoins?
No. you cannot. Option is disabled in Tata Net app even if one item consists of gold coin. I already tried that. Not sure if you are looking at jewellery. That may be possible, i'm not sure of that.

  1. Using Smartbuy, you automatically get an extra 6.66% return on everything. That can add up over the year.
  2. The extended capping on Infinia regarding bonus points also helps a lot. For example you can book a flight of upto 15k or a hotel of upto 7.5k before you hit the daily capping for bonus points in DCB which is just ridiculous. Infinia daily capping is 3x of DCB so thats not too bad.
  3. Since the points are valued at 1:1, the additional payment of only Rs. 2250 GST is required.

Pt. 1 is right. The differential is 7.5k additional accelerated rewards accrual per month in Infinia which may add to 90k per year for same spends it availed to each month. I'm not too bothered about the per day cap or utilization on Smartbuy as I'm looking at it purely for miles transfer. Hence 90k is the significant barrier I'm seeing as of now. Didn't understand the 3rd point as mine is LTF DCB. So for me an additional payment is approx 14.8k with the Inifinia for these additional 90k points. But Infinia being on Visa / MC platform also has that advantage wherein it can be used more as compared to the DCB and hence higher points accrual for that 3.33%.

Life after magnus?

This group will be deleted.
Nah, the group will stay intact, no matter what.
Party jaari rahegi boss.

Even if there is a devaluation, Magnus will still be one of the best cards.
Reason: Privilege bug of 0.4 per ER still exists.

With usage of that we'll be getting 12.5k worth of multibrand vouchers with Magnus sureshot along with Gyftr bonus if any, which can be sold or used by the user.
