You might be eligible for the LTF SBI Cashback credit card
Out of the blue, my RM called me yesterday to discuss some SBI products and ongoing offers. One offer stood out: the possibility of obtaining a second LTF SBI credit card.
Since I’m only interested in the SBI Cashback and Aurum cards, I asked if either could be offered as LTF. My RM outright denied Aurum as LTF, saying the best case would be FYF. However, he said that SBI might extend the LTF Aurum offer—currently available for IIM students—to IIT students within the next 2–3 months.
For the Cashback card, he initially mentioned that his list didn’t include it. I told that I’ve had a pre-approved Cashback offer for months and requested him to check if something can be done. He later called and said that they could provide LTF Cashback under this offer since it is pre-approved.

My Experience So Far:

My Concerns About SBI Cashback:
- Aurum LTF Hope:
I’ve been optimistic that SBI would eventually offer the Aurum card as LTF to IIT students, similar to how they extended the Elite card. Getting Elite LTF was tricky, especially since I already held another SBI credit card. I didn’t want multiple SBI cards to jeopardize my chances of getting Aurum as LTF. - RM Confirmation:
I wasn’t fully convinced that the RM’s assurance of LTF for Cashback was reliable. Because when I asked him for some mail or doc that talked about this offer, he dodged this request two times.
My Plan:
For the second concern, I decided to proceed cautiously:- Sacrifice one CIBIL inquiry and proceed with the application to the verification stage.
- During the verification, ensure the card is LTF and reconfirm post-approval.
Timeline of Events So Far:
- 8th Jan ~ 11:30 AM: Confirmed with my RM that I was ready to apply.
- 8th Jan ~ 3:00 PM: A representative arrived at my location to collect the form and documents (Insti ID and PAN).
- 9th Jan ~ 11:00 AM: Received a call from a landline. The caller verified if I had applied for the Cashback Visa card and asked for some details.
- 9th Jan ~ 11:15 AM: Aadhaar eKYC and VKYC were completed successfully.
- 9th Jan ~ 4:00 PM: Another verification call was made. The lady gave info about the card, confirmed that the application was for the LTF Cashback card, and explained the next steps.
