I just used this trick with a new number yesterday and it worked.
yes, same issue i was facing. Book other restaurent using new number for same day. Verify the coupon code is generated and then only cancel the booking.
dont know. Same thing happened with me but using different device solved the issue. Try on web browser by clearing cache & cookies. Maybe they have improved this system.

Did you keep the reservation or cancel the reservation before changing the number on your ED account?
I did not change the mobile number but changed the mobile device which I am using and logged in another device with same mobile number
Cancelled the reservation

They are probably doing some IP tracking. I reset my secondary iPhone, installed ED, logged in to my account. Coupon still didn't show up.
Its not about cache or ip. I generated coupon using same device and different mobile number (dual SIM) on iphone. Code successfully generated. Earlier coupon was not generated on Android device even after trying multiple times. I tried using Android, Iphone, Desktop (Chrome, Safari, Firefox).
