LTF SBI Elite Credit Card for IIT students

So the SBI at the IIT Madras branch is conducting a campaign to give LTF Elite credit cards to the current students of IIT Madras. This campaign is there till the end of this week. Maybe the SBI cards team will visit each IIT SBI branch and will offer this campaign. Unfortunately, this offer is only for the current students. It's an offline process and only an ID card is required as per their instruction. You can go to your campus branch and enquire about this.

They started the same in IIT(BHU) for only b.tech/IDD 3,4,5th year and PhD 5th year only. The only case is you should have a valid date college ID card; if you have any backlog or spent 5 years on a Ph.D., your card may have expired during the last session (check validity date).

I don't understand that logic, but maybe the number of people would explode if alumni are counted.

It's not about alums. A PhD typically ranges between 3 to 8 years, but the card has a mentioned validity of 5 years; usually, a bonafide certificate can be obtained in such cases (like for passport application). So, even if you're in your 6th or 7th year, you're still considered a student of the institute until you submit your thesis. Similarly, for M.Tech students, like in IITK, it usually takes around 2.5 to 3 years for students in the life science department. Hence, they are still considered students even after completing 2nd year.
