Looks like Axis' strategy is clear. They do not want non-Burgundy customers on the Magnus platform. This is evident by their lackadaisical attitude towards customers trying to close their cards. They seem to hope that all non-Burgundy customers will eventually close their cards and leave. The lack of interest towards retention and such a heavy renewal penalty all show this. Looks like they are now throwing out all the chintu customers who don't want to deposit Rs.10L at Lord Axis' feet. Funnily, they first handed the card out like free samosas and are now punishing people for taking them!

I will also close Magnus in March (renewal is in April). Anyway in terms of rewards Magnus is now good for only the 5x rewards on Gift Edge which gives 12%. Else the pathetic (maximum) 2.4% reward rate makes the card totally useless for everyday spends.

However, how much of the Magnus customer base does Axis expect to shift to Burgundy? How many will actually move? 1%? 5%? 10%? Would those slim numbers make good business sense for the card?
Very well analysed!
Magnus 12% return on gift edge, but is it worth buying these brands at 12% discount?

Now even Atlas is giving 4% return for all spends except insurance (over 5000), fuel, wallet loading.
And 10% return for direct hotel, direct Airlines.

You are right there too, none of the popular vouchers retail at 5x, it is all 2x or 3x. 5x voucher brands people might buy once or twice a year and I don't think it is worth keeping Magnus just for that.

Yes, Atlas seems to be the current no-nonsense card like what was SC Ultimate once upon a time. As for big insurance payments I think the overall best option currently (if you don't have Infinia) is SC Smart with its flat 2% cashback.

What about rent? Magnus upto 50000 or Atlas (no limit)

Well, I don't pay rent via CC because there is little to no benefit nowadays. Also, all Axis cards do not give anything on rental payments...
Magnus Burgundy gives 4.8% return on rent upto 50000 and Atlas there is no mention of rent, so I guess they give 4% return on rent without any limit

You are absolutely correct for Magnus Burgundy, but some posters here don't want to keep 10 lacs idle in a savings account.

hence they are not willing to make their account Burgundy

All these negative sentiments about Magnus...but I don't know any better credit card that gives rewards like Magnus for burgundy customer....correct me if I am wrong
How about SBI Cashback card. 5% cash in most spends .. Peaceful life .. no stress of devaluation .. (. Cash is the king .. ) .. Cash has less chances of devaluation compared to bank points .. may be hold true to Non-Burgundy account holder .. Burgundy Acc holder may be able to extract more then 5% from Magnus..

Y r u paying 2% extra, as per RBI they shouldn’t charge u extra for using card. Ask him to show him in bill that he is charging extra 2% for card usages . He will deny bcos if he gives and u raise a complaint at RBI that showroom’s all card mechanics will be blocked for ever on his business name and no new mechanism will be issued for him on the same business name.
that may be so; but then he can simply tell you "we don't accept cards" - there is no rule that says dealers must accept cards for any payment

A quick question:
I am travelling with my friend from Delhi T2 (Domestic) to BLR

I have magnus card (Loungue specified is New Delhi New Delhi Domestic T2 Lounge Domestic T2)
My Friend has HDFC regalia (Delhi New Delhi Encalm Lounge Domestic T2 Terminal 2)

I see PP issued by AXIS has Encalm Loungue , Can I use PP instead of checking into New Delhi Domestic T2 Lounge ? Will I be charged for it?

The worst thing is Encalm is not even listed in https://www.delhiairport.com/lounges-airport.php for T2

You are not wrong. there isn't any one single card apart from Infinia that can do better than Magnus (w burgundy) in all categories. Even Infinia doesn't at some scenarios.

You have to use a portfolio of cards. One for fuel, one for utility bills, one for govt payments etc. at places where Magnus doesn't reward you.
Other than that it's a still a solid card to keep for gyftr, travel and airmiles conversion.

Yes you will be charged. Don't use PP in domestic terminals that are not listed in the latest devaulation document.
Delhi is not one of them.

If you still badly want to access it, use credit cards which give you discounted rates. Many entry level cards offer discounted rates for entry. PP will straight up cost 2.2k ish.
