My wife and I were traveling to Bali and found ourselves stranded at Mumbai airport when our connecting flight from Kuala Lumpur (KL) to Denpasar (DPS) was canceled due to a volcanic eruption in Indonesia, approximately 600 miles from Bali. Initially, the airline was not allowing passengers to board the Mumbai to KL flight. However, some travelers with different onward connections from KL successfully argued with the airline. Along with 18 other passengers, we chose not to board the flight to KL since there was no certainty about when the affected flight would resume operations. Now, the airline is denying a refund for our tickets. I have a travel insurance policy with Reliance General Insurance that includes clauses for trip delays and flight cancellations. I would appreciate suggestions on how to secure a full refund and possibly claim compensation for our Bali trip, as I will only be receiving a partial refund from the hotels and scheduled activities/experiences, causing significant disruption to our entire vacation
