Miles and more - another samsung alike ??

I booked blr to norway economy tickets for 19k miles + 3k taxes while revenue ticket was 50k.

I am currently looking at blr to boston tickets and virgin atlantic revenue ticket is 1.4L while i can get same ticket in 55k miles + 30k taxes. Even if I check other airlines for revenue ticket, the cheapest I can find is Air France at 1L with just 1 checkin luggage.
Mumbai to Los Angeles is 50000 miles +$320
Revenue is 45500

When so called mileage experts talk about extracting more than one rupee per mile, they conveniently ignore all the extra charges payable.
You need to see use this formula to value the miles correctly for economy class tickets
Revenue ticket = miles + extra charges

Never consider business class or 1st class ticket pricing when valuing miles, because that is an eye wash
I am not expert in mile.
I paid 2.58 lakhs Krish flyer miles +17k for 3 return flight to NZ. Revenue tickets for same flight would have be 3.4 lakhs.
I could have found some other flight at 3 lakhs with more stops or inconvenient times. Even compared to that the lowest price I could find I got more than 1Rs per point.

But I want to go to Boston in August last week. LA is opposite side of Boston.

If you can find anything from BLR to BOS around 20th Aug for less than 90k, let me know.
Mumbai Los Angeles Return is around 88000, 45500+42500.
With Lufthansa miles its 100,000 miles + over 50000

Why are you quoting for LA? I have to go to Boston!
But I am not going to Boston, so I am not interested in Boston.
you can find your own flight miles requirement and compare it to the economy return airfare

My reply was to your first post above. I replied with real world example where I actually booked and travelled to norway at half the price on ECONOMY. And quoted another scenario which I am facing right now and again found booking through miles cheaper. You reply totally out of context by quoting some other random flight.

Well enjoy your view.

It is not out of context.
I am giving a real world example --

Real world example 50,000 Lufthansa miles + 25000 instead of 45500 revenue flight for Mumbai to Los Angeles one way, values the Lufthansa miles at just 41 paisa.
Los Angeles to Mumbai one way also has a similar valuation.
Even the two way Mumbai to Los Angeles return ticket has a similar valuation, requiring 1 lac points plus 50000 extra

Even Singapore Kris miles have a best redemption value of around 66 paisa.

Very difficult to extract more than 66 Paisa per mile for economy seats of any airline program.
Virgin Atlantic has low miles requirement, but the taxes and fees are much much higher.

with business class seats you can extract more than one rupee because they are anyway that much over priced
I booked BOM-JFK air india in 60500 miles + 5700 INR taxes for Air India Non stop flight, Revenue rate is 1.23 Lakh for same, I am leaving calculation up to you.

Dont just generalise everything, for economy its always hard to get higher value
Whats my observation is - IF revenue rate is too high in Peak season, you will get good value, and for some time of the year for the same route, you can get damn cheap revenue, in that case you wont get better value

And in Biz is always better
