one card - Questions to help a friend

Pr@k

TF Select
A friend with a limited (bad) Cibil score has been offered a One card (unsecured) and has sought some guidance

- is the card actually LTF or spend based
- He's not a fan of CC's and would like to initiate the journey with a lower limit etc
- Does OneCard make a hard query on Cibil and impacthis score further

Any other guidance is appreciated

- Yes. OneCard is LTF. No conditions.
- If you have a pre-approved offer (check banner in onescore app, if any) then no enquiry is made.
- Don't go with secured card (based on fd) with them. You will not get un-secured card ever.
- Some people faces issues with physical KYC. Beware.
- Rare chances of limit enhancement.
- This co-branded card (if your get card powered by Federal Bank) cannot be used for Federal Bank offers anymore. No idea about others.
- Recently, they introduced charges for rent payments and wallet reloads. Also, fuel surcharge now has a capping. Beware.
- Very low reward rate.
- I use this card only for bill payments in CRED. They run offers at CRED regularly.

I’ve heard one score sells data out? Safe to use the one score app?

I disagree.

I love my OneCard, the best Ui/Ux I've ever come across...
As for the secured card, that's how I got one. I didn't have any credit history so wanted to start with it since I'm self employed, so no salary slips. Most other card companies declined.
However, after about 6 months of using my OneCard, I have a 762 Credit Score (CIBIL) and 845 (Experian).
Last week I applied for SBI card (SimplyClick) and my application was approved. So I believe it did help. Since I had tried SBI card before OneCard, also tried and got declined for RBL Zomato, IDFC and IndusInd (All declined before OneCard). Now will apply again for those 6 months later.
So I would be careful with statements like "You will not get un-secured card ever." - Although I don't know if you mean that getting the secured card means that you won't get unsecured OneCard ever, or whether you won't get other bank's unsecured cards.

Anyways, as my 1st card, OneCard has been amazing!
The app is great, very user friendly and clean.
The Chat support is decent
The Physical card is classy
The Reward points are nice in my opinion (5X points on top 3 spend categories) - Although I don't care much about reward points as most other cards only allow reward points use for buying stuff at their stores (which usually have useless/unnecessary items) whereas OneCard reward points can be used directly to pay off parts of your bills/purchases/transactions

Just open one card app, click on help icon (top right corner), click on 'card related', then click on 'I have lost QR code...', click on 'unable to activate' and proceed with instructions.

I meant unsecured onecard. I have a metal card and have been using it since 1.7 years. I just told him precautionary measures while applying for onecard.

Oh, got it!
But they don't upgrade even after good Credit score/history development?
Was always wondering about this... Because I love the OneCard platform and don't want to close the CC if I ever have to close the FDs due to any kind of emergency...
I have the metal card too, looks freakin amazing 🤩
I hope they do something about upgrading to unsecured someday... However I believe they might not be doing that due to different banks offering the services, SBM for secured and Federal for unsecured? - Not sure about this

@anilsingh8248 is right in saying that it will be next to impossible to get unsecured onecard if you already have secured one. Many people are facing this issue. And yeah if you ever think of closing your secured onecard and applying unsecured then DON'T DO IT. You won't be able to apply for onecard again if you close your card. With one card you only get one shot.

Yes. I have no payment default since 2.7 years and have above-entry level cards from SBI, ICICI, Kotak, RBL etc. But still I am stuck with same old limit with OneCard. I have OneCard powered by Federal Bank. And I guess, secured cards are mostly powered by SBM Bank.

Very few people have received limit enhancements.
I got my card in Jan 22 and was hoping for an LE twice. But I am still stuck with the same, initial limit.
