DCB Ordering Iphone from USA using DCB

So, i am plaaning to buy Iphone 15 pro max with apple care. I will buy on apple USA website from here in India and will get it delivered to a friend’s address in USA and she will bring it here when she comes to india next month.

I am planning to use my HDFC DCB card for this. Has anyone tried this ? What are the downsides of this? I have global value program enabled on my DCB. So i am thinking i will be in net positive in terms of return rate after considering markup charges, conversion rate etc. This will also help me in getting my joining and annual fee waived off.

Only issue is i will hit 30% limit on my card. Is credit utilisation ratio calculated on every card or is it calculated on total credit limit?

If the spend goes above 30%, you can pay off the excess by month end. Afaik hdfc reports to CIBIL on month end.

Also I am wondering will there be 20% TCS on this transaction?

Credit Utilisation calculate on the basis of Total credit cards limit in Credit Report

GVP has a 1k monthly cap, but also a 1.5L spend bonus of 2k yatra voucher which may or may not be useful to you. Fee waiver is a good benefit but you don't get the bonus miles as well if that's important to you.

Credit utilization is reported around the end of the month by HDFC - you will find articles to the exact date on TF. Simple thing to do is to pay off your card before the end of the month. That way your utilization isn't affected.

Don't worry too much about how much a monthly biill will affect your CIBIL score movement. In the greater scheme of things it truly doesn't matter.

In the last 2-3 months I have used more than 30% of my HDFC Card’s limit for two phones and for both months my CIBIL has increased. 🤔

I don’t think it’ll be much of an issue. The 60k that you’re saving will be anyway more valuable than a drop in your CIBIL.
Order it. You’ll love the Camera and the phone overall. 🤩

totally forgot about the Yatra voucher. But that is on yearly spend of 1.5 lac right? Is that calendar year or annual billing cycle?
Also, what is this bonus miles you are referring to?
Even if my statement is generated in the middle of the month, Hdfc will report my utilisation ratio around end of month?

yep, I am upgrading from my iPhone 13 and wanted to go for pro max. Did u also order from USA? I am also thinking going above 30% spend. Will it help in getting credit limit increase offer from Hdfc faster if they realise I am spending more.

Nope I bought locally but I did buy both with the HDFC discounts. With HDFC the easiest way for Limit increase is via sending the documents. In one year of Holding my Regalia and spending over 6-7 lakhs on it, I got 0 LE offers yet. 🥲

No idea. It could be calendar year, annual billing cycle OR GVP annual cycle. I have no idea. 🙂

10k miles you get annually when you pay your annual fees. Generally, it's better not to pay your fees if you're miles rich.

Even if my statement is generated in the middle of the month, Hdfc will report my utilisation ratio around end of month?
HDFC reports it for ALL their customers at the end of the month as on that particular date. Doesn't matter how much they spent through the month or their billing cycle before that. And again, you're over thinking it. It truly doesn't matter that much.

can you share a link to these miles part, afaik u get all those memberships after paying joining fee in first year on DCB but u don't get anything else from second year. I have never heard about this miles reward for paying fee on DCB.

I tried with my infinia for 3 pro max but transaction didnt go through due to this problems…

My friend ordered from usa using my card and shipping address was my sister address in usa so all 3 details mismatch at apple so they didnt approve charge due to security reasons
