Plan for SSV's Secret groups

I think following points could be considered while forming such a group:

1. Forum Activity and Contribution: Active and Consistent Participation, Number of posts and more importantly the Quality and Usefulness/Impact of those posts

2. Knowledge and Expertise: Demonstrated knowledge ('Quality of post' check would mostly take care of this), Experience Level (TF levels are a good indicator)

3. Reputation and Trustworthiness: Upvotes, Likes, Good Feedback on posts, Number of times a user get tagged for advice, etc. could be checked (again TF profile stats could be useful). There must not be a history of any kind of misuse.

4. Intent and Motivation: I don't know how this can be checked easily without going through someone's recent (many) posts, but a true intent of the person behind joining the group should be assessed. Also, the intent must have a clarity (For example, following answers may be considered poor: I want to join the group because there is one. I want to join due to FOMO. I must be there because my TF level is XYZ.)

Speaking of answers, maybe a very short questioneer could be prepared and a group of 'admins' (or whatever) would evaluate it. I understand the increased complexity scalability issues. Just thinking out loud for now...

Coming to the motivation, those who wants to join the group to just get all the information could be prevented (I know there is no harm in just being a student and listening to the lecture like an accha baccha, but here it is about a small and closed group). The person should be motivated and willing to contribute: bring something to the table, share his knowledge with others, and also help others.

5. Confidentiality and Discretion: The member must be someone who has no record of breaching a respect for privacy. Those who have a history of sharing sensitive information or even just more-than-necessary information publically cloud be barred.

6. Joining Process: Sort of coming back to what I already wrote (while thinking writing out loud😛), the joining could either through an invitation, where only the owner or additionally those people who he delegates, invite others to the group..or it could be an application based where anyone can fill the form and put the request. Both approaches have their pros and cons.

7. Coverage: Once a scope of the group is fixed, there should be an effort towards bringing worthy people who are experts in diverse areas to ensure quality and health of the group.

For a starter:

This will be an Invitation ONLY group..

Enthusiasts should wait for their Pre-approved offer to get into this group 😉

In theory, it's a good idea but on the internet, nobody really knows anyone. I am interested but I wonder how well it can work. People inevitably leak exclusive info elsewhere since they're untraceable or use different user names. Even bank employees lurk around here in these forums.

Keep things simple in such a group, having too many sub-forums, sub-categories or multiple groups just makes my head spin and makes it difficult to track on a daily basis.

If you want to create such closed groups - with dependable members - then - the members must be GENUINE, REAL and have VERIFIABLE IDENTITY.

Have their true, real names as member's name. It must be a pre-requisite to start a group. I prefer dealing with those who are real. Not those hiding behind bogus n fake names.

Genuine names, genuine people, genuine email ids, genuine phone numbers.....

Then, ONLY THEN, I am willing to be a part of such group. Only then, you can discuss freely and openly without any filters or coloured glasses. No fears.

Even the idea of groups will filter out most amount of users. Having to jump through one more hoop adds to the reluctance of most exploiters, so this is a really good idea
