Never realized that HDFC preferred was premium banking.

Good initiative. You can add few points.
1. Imperia is banking relationship. Hdfc also offers infinity above Imperia, but this is invite basis. It also offers few premium account variants called speciale gold/platinum /senior citizen.

2. Yes bank has grandeur <first< private. Good thing about yes is they offer better pricing for supplementary product , which is also negotiable (unlike hdfc, icici, PSBs).

Yes, Within premium itself there are multiple variants for many banks. I will add the variants for all banks in the coming days. Thanks for letting me know.

One doubt. What value is there in having a premium/high variant account?

For example, burgundy and imperia have a mab requirement of 10 Lakh, which when kept over an year gives you an interest of around 3.1%.

Now the same amount split in 2 accounts (iykyk) in a bank like utkarsh at 5 L each gives you an annual interest of around 5.95%. when the same amount is made an fd in a bank like suryoday, or utkarsh, an annualised rate of return of around 9% is easy peasy.

So keeping money in sb account of small banks easily saves you 2.8%, roughly 28000.

Keeping in FD saves you a total of 6% as compared to these hni accounts, totalling near 60000 per year. Now tax on this is a seperate thing.

Since, nowadays all banks are strictly looking into MAB requirement, a like to like comparison would be with FD's, as even though you have the money in your account, in case of premium account, yourl are supposed to maintain that money untouched.

So for this much of difference, is there any value in holding any premium account variant?

Ig if you're choosing highest variant as HNI then HDFC Infiniti is highest and BP in Axis if I'm not wrong...

Got it. Quick thoughts -
1) It is not just about MAB in savings accounts.
Many banks see overall TRV for premium banking - that means all of the FD, loans, deposits, investments - everything counts.
That means we don't have to lock a big amount in SB at all.
You can maintain a 0 balance SB account if you have a 10L loan or a 20L FD.

2) Look at the overall benefits of premium banking. Normal SB account gives an ATM card where I can withdraw 40k daily,
where as in higher variant account, I get an ATM card which I can withdraw 2L daily.
( I mean higher transaction limits)
Similar is the case for all other transactions - no charges for many facilities, higher limits for many facilities etc.
Also preferred rate of interest for loans, no waiting time and direct access to customer care.
Higher variant debit cards with more features and lifestyle benefits etc.

3) Go through the link of some banks that you think are interesting and see what they offer.
Each bank's offerings are different.

Yeah undertaking, it depends on needs.. get it.. thanks sir

As per my personal experiences, here are my consolidated reviews of HNI bankings:

1. Axis Burgundy: Burgundy Debit card is really good for BMS offers. Lounge access too, although someone with Burgundy would most likely be having other lounge cards. Earlier there used to be Atlas ltf, but that may have been discontinued now.

2. HSBC premier: Hsbc premier card is good, with 3% on everything and net reward of 1.5% for rent also. But hefty joining fees of 14400. Their US account offering is also good.

3. Icici wealth: Emeralde pvc ltf can be on the table. Other than bms bogo and spa/lounge, it is useless.

4. Hdfc imperia: 0 benefits, other than free platinum dc for cc payments.

These are only based on personal experience. Feel free to add yours.

Thanks. This kind of summarises the offerings and your views are matching with mine as well.
