Pro Tips to Make a SBI Card Life Time Free

Pro Tips-

Simple way to make Any basic to mid range SBI card LTF is to "Just raise a closure of card account request through Sbi card app .After few hours you will receive a call to ask a reason for cancellation ,there tell them Either make it Life time free or cancel the card.They will make your Card LTF.Done on my both sbi card and now both are LTF.Service request to make your card LTF is taken as PCT id is to be changed.You can check in service request tracking menu.

Caution:-If you holding multiple cards of SBI then kindly do this process at one card at a time only.Do on other card after at least month. If at any point SBI Card is not agreeing on LTF and offering you Annual Fee waivers only then Accept Fee waivers at that moment and Apply the same trick Again after 1 or 2 months for LTF.
IF ANYONE HAVING ANY SPECEFIC CONCERN THEN DO DM.

Edit 1-If afterall anyone missed the call from retention team then they can simply call customer care and there simply tell them to connect/transfer you call to retention team as i want to discuss regarding my card closure request.They will connect you to their retention team and now there you can project the above trick to get your card LTF ..


Edit 2(09 July 2023)-Even people have made sbi cards having fee upto 1499 LTF and even higher varriant cards you will get equivalent reward points or miles or annual fee waiver in place of LTF.

Edit 3(15 October 2023)- Even people have made their SBI cashback credit card LTF by their skill of negotiation.

Edit 4-Now a days SBI Cards sometime,closing the card without calling so suggest now dont place request through app by self .Call customer care directly and ask them for LTF/fee waivers or to transfer the call to retention team for doing the same.
 
just sent the exact same email, my profile is also very similar, 3 years and every year spends >2L, hopefully they should make it LTF, else will transfer the credit limit to my SimplySave card and close this card during next year's renewal, as all of my spends are shifted to DCB now

Got this reply couple of hours back and a service request was raised to close the card and immediately closed saying thank you for considering to keep the card etc.

Is there any outstanding balance or limit utilized when you have written to them

Can you see any SR is registered in the sbi card app as PCT ID To Be changed?
 
you can put edit 5, these call centre said we cant even give annual fee reversal for cashback nor LTF and all annual fee waier is based on offer in your card as there is no option at all to even process for reversal of annual fee.

So annual fee is subject to offers on the card from call centre, so they can't even raise reverse request also they are holding on it and saying same multiples times from different agents. sir nothing can be done for reversal on top of that they say you spent 1.6l and you made around 5,000inr cashback in that i am taking 1,4000inr and you are in profit of 4% we took nearly 1% now where is the question of fee reversal here?, if you please pay the outstanding now I will close the card instantly, will you pay now sir !

I also asked If no outstanding was there would you have closed it? i asked. yes there is no question of calling back because you paid annual fee and requested closure we will happily close it. We acknowledge your emails and previously called to customer care from last 2 month and nothing can be done sir, if you wanted to close the card please clear the outstanding we will close.

That's it end of story nothing else they will say.

now what to do ?

UPDATE: Emailed customer care. These call centres are useless. I emailed the SBI, and they took the request for fee reversal. Now reversal is in process

Try after 6 months. Don't take risk with SBI. They can still close it despite you having outstanding.

Of course, they will ask payment later on but you won't be able to do anything to prevent it.

All these years of holding SBI cards - 8+ yrs - i never had a PHONE call with customer care.
Annual Fee waiver, LTF, incorrect Reward Points, conversion from Visa to Rupay everything happened only with EMAIL/TICKET contact only 👍
