RUPAY UPI CREDIT CARD BLOCKED BY MERCHANT

Transaction under 2k is free only for small merchant.

They maybe mid or big merchant, they receive daily/monthly lakhs of rupees transactions.

So, merchant account automatically convert into mid or big merchant.

Many people user their merchant UPI account for daily or monthly lakhs of rupees rotation.

So, dnt be surprised if MDR will impose MDR on your small transactions.

2nd thing, many business registered under other type of services, they will also need to pay MDR on small transactions.

Originally NPCI promoted Rupay with zero MDR as the USP. Then they introduced it. Then they became too greedy. Naturally, the merchants would hit back. so now the dream of NPCI to rule the credit market goes for a toss. If MDR was kept at around 1%, merchants may not be that bothered.
The real beneficiary would of course be Visa/Master.

This is biting real hard now. All merchants irrespective of sector and size are all disabling UPI on credit card. I haven't been able to make a single transaction on either of my RuPay credit cards (HDFC Tata Neu Infinity and Axis IOCL) in the past one week! And all these merchants were accepting UPI CC until a week back! The funny thing is that they have no problem with accepting physical credit cards even for small amounts.

Looks like the good days of earning rewards on UPI transactions are over. Might as well as use cash.

I think it is now widely being shared in merchant networks that MDR is being cut for Rupay Credit Card UPI transactions, which is why most merchants are now disabling it. If this goes on RuPay credit cards will be rendered useless and will eventually fade away and fail. Govt/NPCI/RBI should come up and do something about this else their grant plans for RuPay will also go up in smoke.

Anyway I am closing the Tata Neu card (FYF) when renewal approaches. I have only got around 600 Neu Coins so far in total and there is no way I am going to make the 1500 in annual fees back that is going to be charged in the next 5 months.

For me, not an issue till date.

Didn't find any merchant disabling CC UPI who used to accept earlier (ofline).

Yes, acceptance is still not great but being accepted here mostly.

Damn, my landlord is even reluctant to accept UPI via phonepe sound box, he is such a retard, like I’m paying 10k every month for 1RK because it’s Bangalore but you don’t want to bear nominal transaction fee.
Guess what Landlord will only take what he can get before the taxes & net the whole gross and hide it under his mattress.
Landlord is not a keen fan of Rajiv Hari Om Bhatia

Plus we must remember Rupay is to payment processors what Jio was to mobile networks.

Down the line, not only CC UPI payemnts but even all account and/or debit UPI payments will incur transactional fees as well as TDS once Govt notices the amount of money it can make doing nothing.

Since NPCI manages UPI they can portray it as free public service but govt will introduce a new tax making scheme like swatch mangal cess etc & recoup all the transactional fees required to maintain UPI system.

Same case for me there is a chat shop near my home who took rupay cc UPI earlier and now has blocked it but he has a POS machine so I used it. Since I did low value transaction of less than 100 I dint prefer to use card directly

Seems POS is much cheaper than accepting rupay cc UPI for merchant in terms of mdr considering there is no mdr for 2k n below.

I guess even for pos mdr will be less for some amount like 1k though I m not sure

It's irritating now since more merchants who I earlier paid with rupay cc have started to block rupay. Purpose of rupay cc is totally lost.

Hello,

I made two payments worth 1500 each to the recipient using my indusind and bob rupay cards on upi. However I'm not being able to make any further transactions and all transactions are failing with the attached message. Any idea what the issue is? Thank you you.
