Should I get a Forex card or No markup DC

Hi All,

I am going on a month long US trip and contemplating if I should use a Forex card or a No markup DC?

I have checked Bookmyforex and they are charging about 15p when loading and about 80p when unloading.

Are there any forex card available where I can load forex (INR equivalent) with credit card? I remember last time (3 years back) I used HDFC forex card which allowed me to load EUR/GBP with (HDFC only) credit card.

Last year I used HDFC forex card, it allowed me to load it via my credit card without any additional charges. FYI, I am a HDFC Bank customer, so not sure how the flow works for non HDFC bank customers.

Card acceptance won't be an issue at most places in Hungary and Croatia. A thing to keep in mind is the exchange rates on the Diners/Discover network. It should be 0.5-2% more than Visa/MC rates depending on the currency.

I agree that Croatia was all right but it was a huge problem in Budapest. I luckily also had my AU Zenith+ card which had a very low forex markup but ya, the Diners had very poor acceptance in Budapest.

Easy to get, yes.

Just an online application - enter your pan, passport number and usual KYC process. If you are taking from the same bank you receive salary in, no KYC needed.

I agree that Croatia was all right but it was a huge problem in Budapest. I luckily also had my AU Zenith+ card which had a very low forex markup but ya, the Diners had very poor acceptance in Budapest.

Yeah, Croatia experience was really great on my end as well. it's always good to have backup one
