Should I get DCB metal?

Hi all,

I randomly checked to see which HDFC cards I am eligible for. I'm getting DCB metal FYF (sort of, with a 1.5L spend in 90 days). My mother is going to buy some jewellery in the coming days (2.5L+). In an ideal scenario(if possible), is it better to give cash (to save on GST) since the DCB reward is 3.3%?

Also, I pay rent to my mom (to save taxes). Can I use the card there too for showing yearly spends? I know this is wasting money lol, considering the charges. Assuming I use RedGiraffe (0.39% plus GST), I know the first rent payment is free from HDFC, but after that, it's 1% plus RedGiraffe charges?

Question: If I use PayZBill, will this still be applicable?

Currently, I have Amazon Pay ICICI and ICICI Rupay Coral (8L limit shared) for general use, and Axis Airtel (60K) for recharge/utility use case.

Considering maybe using DCB for the 1st year and closing it if it doesn't match my future use case?

Thanks!

Yep, go for it only if you use it next 2+ years or until you gather some points to redeem. Much better than your existing cards.
Also can you confirm a couple of questions?
1. I yesterday did the E-KYC after receiving the message from HDFC. I received it again today. Do i need to do it again?
2. If you know can you confirm about the rent question?
Thanks

1. Mostly no unless there are some issues with previous E-KYC, so check with support or wait for a day or two until system update with proper status. Sometimes they sent reminders without checking existing status, so contact and proceed if required.
2. HDFC no reward points for rent. So, you lost -0.5% unless you recover through some milestones, rent with credit card no longer useful with any bank card.

1. Yeah it was a wrong reminder, during the day received message e-kyc is done and application in progress.
2. with the jewellery and i think 3 months rent will be close to 4L milestone maybe, will see if i get the card.
