Lol, but this is for lazy people who wants to keep their life simple.
Imagine changing your formula each time there's a new member added or removed, and I don't think people prefer using Excel or sheets on their mobile phones.

i agree that these seem to be conveninet but
i thought people wanted privacy with their finances

Bro we're talking about splitting restaurant bills, cabs etc there's nothing related to personal finances here, just a note for your friend so that he/she will have to send the exact amount for whatever is the expense

I mean I maintain tabs here while splitiing bills and send them Excel sheet images for reference and the work gets done
