So, I have been using SC Smart CC for a quite time now.
But, Today when I was trying to use the card, transactions were getting failed and it was asking me to connect with the Customer Care on the given numbers.
Initially I thought it was some temporary glitch, but it continued for the next 3 attempts!
I checked the transactions control and limits on SC App to be double sure, everything was perfect! So I thought to give them a call.
I somehow was able to connect to their Phone Banking Agent after a little struggle with a complicated IVR process. 🤕
The agent verified all the details, and told me that my CC payment of around Rs. 1500 was due on 1st March 2025, due to which they have blocked the card for the further transactions. I will have to clear the same before they allow further transactions. (My CL is 3L+, Total Outstanding around 6K)
But, the fact is I already paid my dues on 1st March itself! Probably the transaction wasn't settled yet. I told the same to the agent, she checked and confirmed the payment, but she had no idea what to do further to rectify the same. 😐 So, I asked her to connect with the escalation team/senior. (CC Payment was done through their BillDesk Portal.)
The senior again checked everything and told me that he will try to get the same resolved within an hour, and asked me to try again after an hour. So, I waited for 2 more hours before making another transaction attempt.
To my disappointment, I was still getting the same error message, so checked the app again, and to my surprise, the payment transaction was just recorded there and it was reflecting in my account (Date was coming as 1st March 2025 only.). So, I again went on a battle with IVR to reach some phone banking agent!
This time I was continuously getting the IVR message about too much rush on their IVR system, so it will take a long time to connect with an agent. And it really took a long time 🥺
Again, agent told me the same thing, payment is reflected, but the process is automated, they can't help to lift that invisible barring of the card! Please wait for 24 hours, etc. But I insisted on connecting with the supervisor. He tried to connect me with the supervisor, but the line was coming continuously busy, he first told me that he would arrange a call back in 48 hours, which I politely declined. So, again after waiting on a long hold, he assured me a callback in the next 1 hour. Now I am waiting for that call!! (Yes, wrote this whole post while I was on hold during this second call.)
Will keep you guys posted about the progress.
I never missed any payment till date, but this was some new experience for me. I never heard that Banks block the card even if the limit is there on the card, and even the customer might have missed the payment. That's how they earn plenty of Interest and penalties, etc. ☹️😔🥹
What are your observations regarding this issue? Any other/all banks have the same behaviour? Because, this is something I wasn't expecting from some of the world's premier banks.
