Successful transaction with wrong CVV

Hi Everyone,
I made a payment on the merchant app using ICICI Coral Credit Card, payment was successful though I entered wrong CVV but correct OTP. Can anyone explain, How is this possible? In ideal case scenario transaction should have failed due to wrong input of CVV.
I have two credit cards (other one HDFC and CVV entered was of this card), both I have saved on merchant app. Tried to reach customer care but not able to connect after waiting for more than 15 minutes.
Please let me know if anyone also faced similar issue.

This Happend with me but only when the Card is tokenized on the respective Merchant Platform.

Use Payzapp 2.0, Payzapp do not even Ask CVV for payment via Tokenizied Card

Oh, I had completely forgotten about this. This has happened to me too. I was using the SBI cashback card to make a payment, I input the wrong CVV and realized it immediately, got to the OTP page, and expected the transaction to fail, but the OTP was copied automatically and the transaction went through. I know with 100% certainty that the CVV used was wrong.

Hi Vishesh, I don't remember tokenizing the card on the Merchant app, when contacted, the merchant is saying this issue has to be from the source bank and asked me to get clarity from them, and I was not able to connect to ICICI bank Customer care. My only concern is, this issue is related to safety concerns, should we be worried about saving cards in merchant apps?

As Per RBI Guidelines Merchants can not save your Card Details without tokenization.

Check ICICI Netbanking for the list of Merchants at which your ICICI Card is Tokenized currently
