TRAI Launches Affordable Recharge Plans: 365 Days Validity At Just Rs. 10 (Suggested)

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has published new rules to reduce costs and enhance the user experience of telecom services. Moreover, It helps consumers, especially those who depend heavily on basic calling and SMS or use secondary SIM cards for specialized functions like calls and SMS. Furthermore, the Telecom Consumers Protection (Twelfth Amendment) Regulations, 2024, were released on Monday. These include a number of significant modifications.

The regulations include cheap Rs 10 recharge plans with 365 days of validity and mandatory ‘voice-only’ plans for dual SIM users, which is very useful.

TRAI has issued an issue mandating the launch of different Special Tariff Vouchers for voice and SMS services. Again, this move will help the 2G feature phone subscribers – particularly the elderly as well as the rural masses – to avail of reasonably cheap recharge plans as per their requirements.

TRAI further intends to benefit users by increasing the validity of STVs from the current 90 days to 365 days. In addition, Significant amendments will be made to ensure users enjoy long-term affordability and convenience.

To change the recharge process, TRAI has done away with a colour-coding system for physical vouchers, making it an easier task to categorize into recharges. Moreover, This reflects the growing dependence upon online recharge methods with a focus on introducing cheap recharge plans.

UPDATE #1: Jio, Airtel to roll out Rs 10 recharge plans following TRAI's order

UPDATE #2: Jio.com is showing a ₹10 postpaid plan?

Bhai wo din dur nhi jab kejriwal ladkiyo k liye muft recharge upalabdh krayega....fir sari partiya rewdi lagayegi.....hmri parti mhine ka 200GB data free....hmri party 300G 🤣
100%. Every party wants to give some Rewdi to lure voters, but each one of them doesn't want others to distribute as if they are paying from their own pockets and others are paying it from taxpayers money.

BeJaPe toh pura U-Turn le liya... rewdi rewdi complain karte karte khud distributorship le liya hay.

I think for the first time country is moving towards common monthly pension.
Isme v itna rok tok keu?
Sabko de do na!
Kisne rok rakkha hay!
at least better than cast-wise division, discrimination, and quota politics.

Sabko free Bijli-pani k sath sath free talktime and data v toh de sakte hay? BSNL or VI ka thoda vala ho jayega.

The only thing important in this amendment is that now there will be two separate recharge plan one for voice & sms and other for data. So I think the title should be:

"TRAI mandates separate recharge plans for data and voice in a new regulation"
Who said like this? 🙄

In my view:
Combo in itself includes one or more items like; Voice, SMS & data.

It's not that, a willing customer will be required to purchase 2 different plans, one for Voice & SMS and another for data only.

One who don't need data or bundled pack will have the option to choose STV (Voice & SMS).

But plan and voucher is defined differently. So, I can't comment much.

Ye v sahi hai.

I think he meant to say that seperate tarriff voucher option for voice & sms is new mandate. Data only option already there.

Combo is obviously good. But not for all. Though theoretically combo vouchers are there but they usually for short duration and are relatively costly. That also relaxed. (Not talking about unlimited plans)

That's why these new options for voice & sms will be good for some people and for secondary numbers.

kabhi nahin aayega...mark my words...It is only feel good factor.....

They keep spreading positive news to kill bad news...What happened to CNAP

People are foolish who believe in all these news
