Please can you tell me how to check MCC before payment? Would be helpful.Everywhere you can do
Disable transaction on card setting. Then try payment. When it fails, just call customer care to know mcc of failed. Works in hdfc and axis cc..Please can you tell me how to check MCC before payment? Would be helpful.

Recently I asked my hdfc RM to check mcc for a transaction (completed couple of hours back) however, she said she can check mcc only on settlement of the transaction.Disable transaction on card setting. RM can't check instant credit card transactions, as they don't show up on their screen. Customer care is the best and quickest way to know mcc. You can either call or email, whichever you prefer.Recently I asked my hdfc RM to check mcc for a transaction (completed couple of hours back) however, she said she can check mcc only on settlement of the transaction.
What did I say and what are you saying?Recently I asked my hdfc RM to check mcc for a transaction (completed couple of hours back) however, she said she can check mcc only on settlement of the transaction.
Ohh got it. I was not aware that RM can't see but customer care can see mcc of unsettled transactions.RM can't check instant credit card transactions, as they don't show up on their screen. Customer care is the best and quickest way to know mcc. You can either call or email, whichever you prefer.
@thewittypanda @S9100 I just checked with AMEX. They said the Merchant category for Reliance Digital (store) that I made the payment to was General Purchases and the sub-category was Department StoresYeah, Reliance Digital may have some issue. Check and then make payments.
If you're still 70K short from hitting the 4L milestone what you can rather do is, buy Reliance Digital vouchers from Amex Gyftr which will give you 3x points and then make the payments and whatever left can be done through Axis Atlas. If you have doubt over MCC for Atlas, then may consider buying Reliance Digital Gift Cards from Tata Neu App through Axis Atlas Card for the rest amount and then make the payments.
You will get base points on both Amex and Altas on that merchant. So, you can do either.@thewittypanda @S9100 I just checked with AMEX. They said the Merchant category for Reliance Digital (store) that I made the payment to was General Purchases and the sub-category was Department Stores
I have to get a replacement, and this merchant category should not cause an issue, right? I'll be cancelling the transaction done on AMEX as I have to buy some other brand of fridge and washing machine so I'm thinking I'll put them on Atlas. Do I need to the transaction disabling thing now that you had mentioned?
Yes yes, the context is reliance digital was using the jewelry MCC some time back and Atlas users weren't even getting base points. You will get base points on both Amex and Altas on that merchant. So, you can do either.
Atlas will not give accelerated points.
Ok got it.Yes yes, the context is reliance digital was using the jewelry MCC some time back and Atlas users weren't even getting base points.
Reliance still trying to save a quick buck idk why.Ok got it.
I think they were using old machines/merchant names or employees just copied the old format while creating new pos machines. Don't know how much savings with this mccReliance still trying to save a quick buck idk why.
Now they're classified under department store and not electronic sales.I think they were using old machines/merchant names or employees just copied the old format while creating new pos machines. Don't know how much savings with this mcc
