VKYC Issue with PNB CC - Is Branch Visit Really Necessary?

Hi TF community - I’ve been trying to get the PNB RuPay Select Credit Card for over a month now and the whole process has been a bit of a mess.

Timeline so far:
  • Applied online on Aug 1 → CIBIL inquiry done the same day
  • Completed VKYC on Aug 2 → got SMS confirmation
  • Then a week of silence
  • After chasing them over emails and even escalating to HO → I finally got a reply: “Checker Rejected - VKYC - REJECTED”
  • When I asked why → they said my father’s name in the application doesn’t match with the documents
  • I shared the application + Aadhaar → both clearly show the name is 100% correct
  • Since then, the only response I get is: “Your VKYC has been rejected. Kindly visit the nearest branch with original documents and submit physically”
Now, here’s my issue: I don’t want to go to the branch for something that should be fully digital. Is visiting the branch the only way forward once VKYC is rejected, or can I push back by filing a complaint with the RBI Ombudsman to get them to process it online?

Would love to hear if anyone here has dealt with this before. Thanks!

@e-va Read this thread initial post and also last few pages to understand how people are sharing their experiences with this card application.

Good to also ask in that thread.

Sharing my frustrating journey with PNB’s credit card process - in case it helps others:
  • Even after submitting valid documents, PNB refused to update my info. RBI complaint is still open.
  • Raised a CPGRAMS complaint - PNB called but insisted I visit the branch. Complaint was closed on Sep 17.
  • Reapplied on Sep 18. VKYC didn’t work
  • Tried again over the next two days, but the VKYC page kept showing an error. I emailed them on Sep 21.
  • For over a month, no one at PNB - not customer support or the credit card team - helped with the VKYC issue.
  • Filed another CPGRAMS complaint. Got a call again from the same lady, now much softer. But she closed the complaint anyway.
  • Only after I filed an appeal did PNB admit VKYC was down due to technical issues.
  • The appeal was closed too - with the advice that I should just visit the branch for KYC.
  • Tried standing up to a PSU bank. But in the end, lost.
