Why few banks are talked less

asahi

TF Premier
Hardly we see any news or any new updates or offers or something interesting from banks like Uco, CENTRAL BANK OF INDIA, city union bank, South Indian bank, Bank of India Indian Overseas Bank, punjab & Sindh bank INDIAN BANK, & list goes. Even our community revolves around Axis, Hdfc, Sbi idfc indusind icici, occasionally Kotak federal
Even Union bank of India, Canara BOB PNB related news can be seen here & there. But those banks almost makes no noise.

Lack of customers isn’t the issue, you almost never find the above listed bank branches without packed people/customers. Especially PSUs. It feels like they never make efforts to attract customers etc, they just function like that.

I think their target customers are different not people like us who goes after discounts cash backs referrals rewards sales etc etc

AFAIK, listed banks doesn't have dedicated credit cards (either tieup with SBI and provide same cards with their logo or none), so nothing to talk about it.

Other thing, online application (digital) not available in most of the banks, still need to visit branch to do things which is not recommended in 2024. We can open account completely digital in Canara but same I don't think in listed banks.

And, offers wise do not expect anything from PSU banks its rare when it comes to credit cards.

Debit cards are meant to withdraw cash, pay bills, avail occassional (at that time also only if no credit card) offers.

I bet each one of us in TF community initially started banking with these PSU's only. I have my first bank account opened in 2009 in nearby Indian Bank branch, I do hold it still now. These banks mcap are also not much lesser than the other private banks.

It's just their mode of operation is bit different from others. Still if someone wants to start FD or any term deposit, safety comes first in mind and then the ROI, these PSU ensures that safety. In short, the less talked PSU's are the saviour for the majority of OUR people.

Offers, Cashbacks, Discounts etc are temporary, basic banking services are always intact.

My first account was in Central Bank and Second in the Syndicate Bank.

And now I don't have any account in either banks. Only PSU bank I have my account is SBI. Rest of my accounts are from Private Banks.

What I prefer is ease of doing banking without hurdles of visiting a branch for every other thing. Also online banking is streamlined in the private banks(at least where I have an account)
