Wise Card is Finally launched in India

I don't see a use case for the digital version, since I can always use my 0% forex credit cards. But the physical helps If I need a little bit of cash during a trip instead of relying on Airport Forex.

Fees are as follows
- $200 per month is free
- $1.40 + 3.25% after

Yep. $200 withdrawal is free per month at an atm unless I'm mistaken. Now I'm just waiting for Revolut's offering.
At the same time, Wise cards are better for online txns... One advantage is when some merchant does a card number check, Wise will report it, other banks don't show it to you...

A card number check is a transaction with doesn't involve any monetary moment, just a check whether card is active or not. That is helpful in case to understand whether your card details have been leaked or not...

I had used a Wise card in EU for many weeks. It was my friend's (he lived there) and since I was just backpacking he had given it to me for just in case scenario (best friends; just in case anyone is curious). I had checked the expenses and confirmed by him but he had said there was no txn fee and even conversation rates were great (only few countries that didn't deal in Euro) and also since the card was from EU and I was spending in EU it was pretty nice. Soon I stopped using my Thomas Cook card (which was worse than my Indian credit cards - lost some money as well). Yes I used it in the ATMs as well (my friend had said I could use and there was no fee). Circa 2019-20.

So not sure why the txn. fee in India? Is it because it was like a normal bank debit/prepaid card in EU and it's literally a Forex card here?

PS. Also - I will be travelling to UAE in coming months, for 2-3 weeks, should I just stick to my Atlas and DCB and not wreck my head around using a Forex card and just rely on a little of local currency notes that I will take from India? It sure felt during my EU trip that Thimas Cook was an unnecessary pain.
