Hello every,
The first credit card is special for everyone. We all remember the experience of getting our first card 😃
Let's share our first credit card experience...
My experience-
My first credit card was ICICI HPCL Coral, which I received in 2015. My home address at that time did not fall within any bank's serviceable area, so they asked me to apply for credit card against FD. But I needed an unsecured credit card, so I talked to my branch manager and I told him I needed an unsecured card.
He told me that... we can give you an unsecured card but for that you have to purchase an ICICI Prudential Ulip policy of Rs. 2 lakhs (minimum).
At that time I desperately needed a credit card because my business was in USA and I needed a credit card for its payment. I was unemployed that time with zero CIBIL score, No bank was offering me a credit card so I had purchased a policy of two lakh rupees at that time and got my first ever credit card ICICI HPCL coral credit card (chargeable), later icici converted that card to a lifetime free hpcl coral credit card and I'm still holding that one 😄

My first card was in 1997 from Citi & SCB... an uncle referred and few members in family applied with his reference.. apart from address proof I don't remember submitting any income docs.. we still have the cards running, its LTF. Last renewal from SCB had member since 1997 embossed on the card..

My first credit card - HDFC times platinum

I took it while starting my first internship in 2018. Didn't know much about credit cards then and just selected the category of online spending and HDFC recommended this crap card to me. I still got this but only use it for HDFC bank cashback offers and nothing else

I got my first card from HDFC( don't even remember the name) from a person standing outside the office in Bangalore in 2009. Never used it. It got automatically closed!
Jump to 2012, I understand it's uses, so applied for Citi IOCL card via a friend(with a 1.xxL limit). Got it without any issues.
Now hold a portfolio of carefully selected 8 cards! CCs are the way to go.

Mine is a horror story. During lockdown June 2020 they forced me to an easy EMI card, delivery location was office. But office was closed. So my card never got delivered, December I got billed 500 for annual, I was told it was free, they told me you have to make one transaction to waiver, but I told them I don't even have the card, how do you want me to make transaction, I somehow got it reversed, now in Jan 2021 I asked then reissue. I waited and waited, it's now April and still card didn't arrive, and 2nd lockdown and come December 2021 I again got charged the annual. I again called them. It's been 1.5 years and I still haven't gotten my card but you are billing me for not using the card. This time they reissued the card in jan 2022 and made it life time free.

Ok in March 2022 made car insurance payment of 22k it got auto converted 9 months EMI, then in April I bought an iPhone in April but during buying the phone he said that if I convert the transaction into EMI I won't get 5000 cashback offer from HDFC, i had to call email hdfc since there's no way to talk to a customer care to not convert it into EMI, they told me all they can do is upgrade to millennia but LTF will not be there. I said OK fine do it.

Now I'm in millennia but I wish I could convert it into regalia.

My first two credit card applications in 2014 were rejected by ICICI and Citibank. Internal criteria not met. Had no credit history.
I had just opened an account in HDFC.
Applied for AllMiles Credit card. Initially got the message application rejected, on further mailing them got the reason as work address not verified when no one came for verification. I requested for re-initiation of verification, then the work address was verified and card issued with 75k limit.

2008, India’s first transparent Credit card( claimed by abn amro) applied with payslip and bank statement , resi and office verification happened , total 15 days to reach me , applied through my friend who working for bank and 45000 is limit.

My first credit card was from Kotak. Have a savings account with them.
In 2019 got a pre approved offer for a credit card between Urbane Gold and PvR Gold card both chargeable without any documents.Didnt have much knowledge about credit cards that time.So thought for trying it out.
I Chose the PVR Gold as i liked going for movies.
Recently Upgraded the card to Zen Signature LTF all thanks to this wonderful community. 🙂

2016, Citi Rewards(75k limit) card that came with my Citi Salary account in my first job. I just worked for a year and went back to studying for 4 odd years.

Though I had no income, I was using this card for whatever bare minimum purchases I had to make. The limit kept increasing over the years. A robust CIBIL was getting generated though I was clueless about how helpful it is during that time.

Once I started working again in 2021, I started to have large expenses and wanted to optimise those expenses with good cards. Started wth FK Axis LT, APay LTF. Got a host of other low cost cards. But then I stopped using all of them when my wife (then gf) got Infinia LTF (don't ask how, that's her first CC ever). All our expenses were on Infinia LTF till recently. Now I got a magnus, things moved to my card owing to higher reward rate.

I got kotak urbane gold credit card with limit of 10k last year it was my first credit card, it was pre-approved ,although I am a student having 0 cibil that time and on the very same day I got the slice card too with 20k limit.
When kotak representatives were calling me for my pre-approved card I was thinking that they were fraud, how can i get a credit card, i donot have any income source or cibil score. I reached home and call on Customer Care and confirm that I am having pre-approved card.
After 4 months of using Urbane Gold card they upgrade it to PVR GOLD, which I am still holding and reach it's milestone every month and got 2 pvr tickets😁.

Slice card will show as Personal loan so close it if you dont want a Personal Loan in your Cibil

So I opened my bank account at 18 with ICICI, which was converted to a Salary account by the age of 22 when I started working for Wipro.

The first credit card was thus from ICICI, the ICIC Coral from their gemstone collection, it was a paid card I think 499+ taxes. But we juiced it like anything 😅, we used to get 4 BMS tickets free for about 250 as far as I remember. The ticket prices were low and the convenience fee was lower, so the second ticket felt actually free 😁.

But now it is a shitty credit card, although I just got it upgraded to a Ruby LTF. Magnus and Regalia are my primary and secondary cards.

The first credit card I applied was back in 2014 and was ICICI Bank entry level credit card, though the Application was rejected. Then I opened Salary Account in HDFC thinking HDFC Credit Card approvals would be good if you already hold relationship with the bank and within a week, I received my first HDFC MoneyBack Credit Card with Approx. 60k limit.
