do they have to live under the same roof? does google check for location and shit?
i read some cases on reddit where the user's account was blocked because he was involved in these things.
even i share spotify fam plan with friends, but i am hesitant about youtube.
please share your experience 🙏

Use desktop site and you can play in the background.
Google has a rule that you should be in the same country when adding to a family for the first time, then you can roam around.
For Spotify, my friends are in UK, US, Mumbai, Bangalore and no ones had any issues.
Only mod app I'm very addicted is spotify cause the account of my spotify it like 7 to 8 yr old now so all my liked music is there so I did transfer to apple music has a backup but spotify used to be good until they started removing feature from free plan. So yt premium free trial would be over on 4th april. So as far comment will ask friend and family so I can share family plan with them.

Vanced is dead. YouTube figured out users were using Vanced ( cracked version) as the official was long removed by YouTube itself. I faced problems like the video won't play or warning pops up midway stopping everything and freezing. Sadly Vanced never worked again! Some version are available but as the cracked apps won't guarantee safety if you are logged in with Gmail. I use BRAVE BROWSER. If you use Brave in phone or iPad, there won't be any ads just like premium...the video will play right away. In Windows, the video of ad will be blacked and timeline will be started until the skipping of ad and then the video will start. Hope this helps 😊
P.S: Also no chrome extension works for skipping ads in case you were wondering!

It's not as slick as official app. Also the video pane won't refresh everytime you reload it like official app. You will see the same video recommendations again and again until you close the browser and open it after some time. If you want the official app... student discount at ₹59/ month is available. You have to verify the ID card with Sheer ID ( just like Apple uses Unidays for verification).
I always use adblocker + privacy badger (it works good on firefox mobile) and incognito / private mode to avoid these 😅 Though you may whitelist some website which are dependent on ad revenue and does not show such NSFW ads.
Btw Revanced will give you option for background play and all features of premium and some extra, except super high resoultions video play.

Will stuck to premium but have to do student verification & have login problem
I have been searching online to get a resolution since past few days, but till today, couldnt find any. Last nov or dec 2023 the same things happened and it got fixed with an updated patch. Now its ahppened again, 2ill 2ait for another week or two until someone releases a patch. Also neevr use these types of apps with ur legit account. Always use dummy accounts.

Never watched YouTube shorts for like a year or so
But soon after buying premium I binged it for 30 Minutes without any reason.
I can happily use vanced & not premium.

Still yt premium family plan is the best value for money subscription as it includes yt music, imo.

He wasted 30 mins watching shorts. There is no way to hide shorts in official yt app even with premium.

Shorts is such a cancer ♋ 🦀
That's why I never liked offical app after shorts came
For music one can use any other steaming app
