Zero Balance AMB Account from IDFC First Bank, Is It Worth It? Need Advice!

Any relationship with IDFC is not worth destroying mental peace.

Their branch people don't have knowledge about bank various policy or offers. Customer care people politely says we are working on it with no timeline. Even mailing ceo desk is of no help.

From next month most account will be closed or converted in to zero AMB after IDFC reward devaluation announcement from Jan 1st 2026

Even if your account is migrated to zero amb, no extra benefits. Rewards are gone, debit card chargeable. I don't think that this bank will survive. Nothing exceptional! They should atleast provide amb waiver policy like if you maintain 10K, they will waive off debit card amc. Don't know who designed such thing here. Branch is less, practically zero. Atm is very rare. Whats the benefits now!!

Hey everyone!

I recently got an interesting offer from IDFC First Bank, and I’d love to get your thoughts and experiences.

Since I already have a credit card with them, they’re offering me a Zero balance AMB savings account but only if I set up auto-pay for my credit card from this new account.

Now, I have a few questions:

  1. If I activate auto-pay now and then disable it after a month or two, will the savings account still remain zero balance AMB?
  2. If the answer is no, do you think it’s worth waiting it out? Could they possibly offer a zero balance account without any conditions in the future?
  3. Any other advice, tips, or things I should be cautious about?

Would really appreciate your insights. Thanks in advance!

Edit:-

Personally, I do not believe in auto pay for credit card. That’s why I am trying to avoid that.

Yes, I do want to open IDFC First account, but I’m already maintaining a high balance in my other bank account, so I don’t want to open another one that requires maintaining an AMB

It is worth it, I too have it from past 2yrs had received same offer. No other bank offers zero amb on regular account. Go for it

Keep 25k amb everything including debit card will be free

IDFC cannot be trusted, they may devalue at any time. Remember their credit cards, at the time of their launch they made shocking benefits, but after a few months, most credit cards are practically useless.
Everything eventually changes. No bank keeps the same benefits forever. They update or remove features over time to sustain themselves in the market. It’s just part of the cycle. As long as the product is meeting your needs right now, there’s no harm in using it.

Think this scenario, bank may bring revaluation with points reduction in a short period too
