Need Advice: KOTAK White Credit Card Annual Fees Issue

I was billed ₹3,000 + ₹540 GST (total ₹3,540) as annual fees.

I contacted customer care to request a reversal, but they rejected it. I escalated the matter to their senior team and even the Privy team, but they also declined to reverse the charges. I also asked if they could at least do a partial waiver, but they refused that too.

I then asked if I could cancel the card, but they informed me that cancellation requests are only accepted once the outstanding balance is cleared.

Frankly, ₹3,540 isn’t a huge amount, but it feels like a waste for a card I no longer find value in.

What would you suggest I do now?

Is there still any way to get the annual fee reversed?

Or should I just clear the dues, cancel the card, (or use it for a year) and move on?

Would appreciate any advice. Thanks in advance!

In case you have not used the card after the fees got charged, you can ask them to reverse it and close the card. They should oblige.

Yeah, I told them the same thing. But they said I have to pay the annual fees first before I can cancel the card. Only once the outstanding is 0, they can close the card.

Nope, quote RBI and they will take care of it. we have had multiple users here on TF that have used the same thing. I also reversed my axis ace and closed it.

Tell them you'll complain to RBI if they dont follow, in case they still dont do it, pay the fees, dont use card, and raise a complaint with RBI.

Thanks, however, is there such RBI rule though? I am not aware of such.
