I had visited Punjab National Bank branch on 10th March 2025 to close my savings account. However, the branch staff refused to process the request, citing financial year-end restrictions. I subsequently raised a complaint with the PNO office on 13th March and followed up multiple times on 13th, 15th, 17th, 21st March, and 11th April. Despite this, there was no action or even a basic acknowledgment from the PNO office.
Additionally, I submitted a written application for account closure at the branch on 21st March 2025, but the matter remained unresolved. Recently, the bank responded vaguely, mentioning a "technical reason" for the delay, without providing any specifics.
For 1.5 months, nothing happened. I was frustrated. I raised a complaint on CPGRAM portal and within 3 days the technical problem was solved and account closed.
Then did same with SBI. And voilla SBI also was not ready to close the account. And after CPGRAM, it was done.
