That might be for other sites like myntra etc. I got 5399 on MAXIMIZE site while purchasing giftcards of myntra. I got Same 5399 on SBI CASHBACK also for the same purchase. And the screenshot is already in the post(couple of comments from the top). Can you share the email? People were getting 7311 or something like that with swiggy card but not 5399.
I checked with the CC after the purchase and they mentioned 5947 mcc which is related to gift cards. So, no cashback. Bear in mind that MCC is decided by the network provider. The network provider for SBI is VISa while Swiggy card is master card. That might be for other sites like myntra etc. I got 5399 on MAXIMIZE site while purchasing giftcards of myntra. You may be right but you are not getting my point. I have already made purchases on maximize website with sbi cb and HDFC SWIGGY. In both cases I called customer care to know MCC. In both cases customer care said MCC is 5399. In sbi cb I got 5% and in Swiggy I got 1% cashback. Then mailed HDFC team. And they said on HDFC SWIGGY only 4 merchants under 5399 MCC is eligible for 5%. In this case maximize is not included in those 4 sites. That's why only 1%. And as per my knowledge MCC codes are provided by the payment gateway(in this case it was razorpay) not by the networks. Like when you get merchant QR from Paytm or phonepay they provide your MCC based on your business you do but I may be wrong.I checked with the CC after the purchase and they mentioned 5947 mcc which is related to gift cards. Payment gateway won't provide MCC I have a document how Mastercard decides MCC it is explained over there. And yes what you said about select merchants is correct. Even for Millenia 5% is eligible only on select merchants like maybe 10 of them.Y

Good to know. I didn't know all these. Thanks for clarifying.Slightly wrong. In case of VISA, MCC code is decided based on the industry the merchant gives to payment processor and acquirer bank to whom they belong to.
In case of Mastercard, Mastercard decides the merchant's industry, not the other way around.
Unfortunately for us, swiggy card is a Mastercard 🙂 Hence why I usually stay away from Mastercard.
And, banks do have the authority to decide which merchants can be allowed for offers within the sub category of a specific mcc.
Even my brother will be applying for Infinia card and nowadays infinia comes with Mastercard too, but I will clearly tell HDFC to issue the card on visa, not Mastercard.
I got 5% cashback on merchants other merchants as well. CC also told me that if the MCC is 5399, you will get 5% cb which is why i was pretty sure. CAn you raise it CC again? Many told that Maxime with swiggy card is not giving 5399 but 7311 or something with 7 series?Y

Did you check the MCC code? can you please share the email?I hold swiggy card, and can 100% confirm it doesn't give 5% on maximize. I have the statement and maximize charge on it, and it didn't give 5%.
What about rupay?Slightly wrong. In case of VISA, MCC code is decided based on the industry the merchant gives to payment processor and acquirer bank to whom they belong to.

I don't know, sorry. Go to rupay's website and check all their T&C documents that are given to banks to become a member. You'll really need to get into all their legal document to find an answer for this. What about rupay?
For any card its the same process Master card collects all data and assigns MCC. In case merchant feels the MCC is incorrect they can request for a change by submitting the details to master card from their website. What about rupay?
Swiggy Blur it doesn't matter anywayCan anyone kindly guide what should be the merchant name on swiggy Instamart order to get 10% cashback with hdfc swiggy card?
So can i proceed without any headache of merchant name or MCC, as i was planning to get a gold coin from instamart using swiggy hdfc card, it would cost me 9k(After 1000Rs cashback from this card) for 24k 1gm coin. So, in a nutshell, ordering a gold coin from instamart would still fetch me 10% cashback, right?Swiggy Blur it doesn't matter anyway
