IDFC First Bank has introduced Debit Card annual fee. So, those who are thinking on opening the lucrative freebies account, hold on a bit, rethink twice. Frankly speaking, if IDFC is introducing charges for their banking services nothing is exceptional here. I am expecting further rates hikes/introduction within coming year as they are targetting to raise NIM.

So, the day has finally arrived.
IDFC FIRST Bank has officially informed customers that effective from 1st January 2026, there will be no more reward points on any debit card spends - whether online, offline, or on any platform.
This update applies across all variants - Wealth, Private, and others.
The email sent by the bank starts with a long explanation, claiming that the move is aimed at "maintaining their offerings."

Right from the start, I had mentioned that such a high-reward debit card program was too good to last...

If anybody knows how to close idfc ac online then let us know the process here.
The home branch for me is 200km away, so the only option is to close online.

no, the nearby/home branch is 200km away from my home town.
Send email to PNO and state this reason. Tell them that you can ship documents or something like that. Surely, they can make some sort of arrangements.
What I did today
Downloaded account closure form online
filled on my samsung ultra
attached copy of aadhar, cancelled cheque and account closure form and emailed request to RNO and PNO to close my account and all related services
Lets see how it goes
