5 credit cards challenge

If you could only have 5 credit cards with you and no more - which would be your 5 credit cards? Would be great if you could also mention the reasons. Of course these will be based on your personal usage, preferences, spends etc., but would be fun to know. Idea is to see if we can create a holistic portfolio of credit cards in a way that they cover all aspects of our spends and lifestyle, thus each card complementing the other 4. What are those 5 cards as of today (as the combination may keep changing with new cards coming up, devaluation in existing cards etc.).
I am so looking forward to hear from members here. Would especially be fun to hear from those who have numerous credit cards and to see how they manage to narrow it down to 5 😛 .

Good collection of cards, specially most being LTF except Octane, which I am sure you manage to get waiver with spends. Covers almost all aspects.
I just completed 1 year with SBI Octane. This year I managed to cover 2 lacs. But that may not be the case always. Anyway, I found that if I make average consumption of petrol upwards of Rs. 2700, I am still making money on this card. So decided to continue having this. If in any year, I do cross 2 lacs, it will be even better.

Yeh kaisa h batao:
1. Magnus: Daddy of all 🙏
2. Vistara Infinite: Helps after 1L , also I can suffer economy, but parents shouldn't.
3. Samsung Axis Infinite: Only for International spends iykyk 😉
4. DCB LTF: Alumni offer, sabka add-on banwa chuke hain. Pura pariwar lounge jata hai.
5. Eazydiner Indusind: FYF, best value for dining spends.

These are the cards I personally own, so will narrow down the list on that

1. HDFC Tata Neu Infinity: Everyone should have an HDFC card for offers plus it’s UPI enabled and we can pay CC bills using this.

2. Axis Magnus: No explanation needed to keep this card 😛

Personally I can live with these 2 cards. Other 3 I can keep like OneCard, ICICI Platinum and AmEx as they have really good offers sometimes.

You should’ve asked for 2 cards @abhishek0882 😂, 5 cards can fit a lot of them

1. Axis Ace - Flat 2% at most places and some utility bills and Bank offers.
2. HDFC Millennia - 5% for 9 popular merchants and HDFC offers. Lounge access
3. Axis Airtel - For Utility Bills.
4. HDFC TATA Neu Infinity- Rupay card with rewards on UPI.
5. ICICI MMT Platinum - almost LTF card for ICICI Offers and lounge access.

Almost all cards provide direct cashback without much overspending. Not much into points game since my air travel is less.

Platinum charge- for the memberships/status at hotels etc it provides.
Vistara Infinite- for Vistara gold, works out very well for me when it comes to domestic travel.
Infinia- coz it has served me very well and despite the devaluations I dont think HDFC is done yet.
Magnus- purely from a reward perspective.
For the fifth currently I use Stanc ultimate but maybe Reserve. Honestly dont want to put too many eggs in the Axis basket so if I had to choose only 5 then StanC it is

My spends are low soo difficult to justify super premium cards joining and renewal fees
Still for me it will be
1) axis magnus for 1L milestone
2) hdfc infinia for rewards and buying apple products
3) amex gold for spending in excluded category
4) hdfc dcb
5) standard charter ultimate for 5% and other perks

My current portfolio is
1) sbi vistara prime try to spend as much as i can great for fuel and some excluded categories i have heard like insurance and nps and offline
2) axis airtel for my utility spends electricity bill and recharge each month can easily get 300 to 500 cb
3) hdfc milenia 5%cb on some merchant and GV purchases via smart buy have it as ltf
4) bob snapdeal 2.5% cb on most online spends trying to update to premier with ltf currently its paid
5) amazon pay got it as my 2nd card when I started my cc journey 5% unlimited cb is nice though lacks offer which apply for other icici cards
6) amex smat earn got it cuz wanted an amex card some time has offer on uber and insurance will try to update it to mrcc as ltf if can

Bahut achha hai. Maybe an AMEX/Rupay in the mix for variety?

There would be a riot in this community if people are asked to be restricted to 2 cards 🤣. If we were playing that challenge, it might as well could have been which is that ONE allrounder card. But Magnus and Tata Neu as of today is a good combo. Maybe an AMEX to complete the trio and one can be set.

Very good portfolio for someone with very less air travel. If you get to travel more, that is when you can get some card with travel benefits.

This is a high maintenance credit card portfolio as well, if some of these are not LTF. As long as you can extract the value of all these cards, they can be amazing. For someone who has a lifestyle to go with it, this portfolio adds amazing value.

Your current portfolio is good too, maybe a few modifications here and there can be done, but as long as it serves your purpose, it is good to go. The 1st list you mentioned is a great portfolio for someone with higher spends - go for that only when you reach those level of spends. All the best.

Only two of these are LTF, both due to NRV. To be honest, though high maintenance they have given me immense value during my travels, so no complaints
