Query regarding Re-issue of Passport

I have applied for a Re-Issue of Passport since I wanted to change the address in passport to my current address.

I have submitted the application form online and I have an appointment scheduled in PSK on June 11. I have three queries regarding this.

1) Will Police Verification be carried out? (Planning to go to Bangalore on June 15 for 3-4 days for my personal work. So not sure when Police might visit address for verification)

2) How many days it will take from PSK visit for the complete process to be carried out and get a New Printed Passport?

3) Will Passport Number change in New Passport? (Might be booking an international flight in this month end. So if it asks for my passport number, not sure what number to give)

Yes it will always be carried out. New or reissue is almost the same. In case of change of address, then mark it 1000%

If all goes smoothly without any hiccups, max 7-10 days

Yes, you get a fresh new passport with 10 years validity from date of issue.

Yes, but with a renewed passport. Nowadays they stamp the passport as " passport cancelled but visa still valid'"

What does that mean? I am applying for re-issue of existing passport right? Do I need to apply freshly again?

I don't have any visa on my old passport, I didn't even travelled anytime, I just used that a identify proof till date

A consecutive Passport is always issued on renewal basis. It will always contain the details of previous passport.

When you apply for a reissue of existing passport, the process is almost the same as a fresh application but you are asked to list the type of application as fresh or renewal in the application form.

The original question was about some visa on an expired or about to expire passport, so I answered in that tone.

If there is a new question, then it is advisable to start a new thread.
