Infinia Infinia or Biz Black or both?

I have gone ahead because this is the only good card missing in my collection
They might ask to make fd for higher limit. During application process my rm said they approving my infinia but with 4.5l limit, make 3l fd to get more limit upto 10l. To show having higher relationship with bank. In saving account was 10L. Fd not linked to cc, can close anytime.
But Not sure whether it was CC department requirement or rm completing his target.

It was the relationship manager completing his target
I don't have any relationship manager.

10 lakhs to 20 lacs is the normal limit for Infinia based on ITR and CIBIL score.
No relation to fixed deposits.

Did you apply BizBlack via FD route? if so how much was FD amount?

I am eligible for infinia based on ITR but I am wondering if I should apply for Infinia or Biz Black or both.

Infinia 14750 joining fee and renewal fee are compensated by 12500 points every year, which are best redeemed for air tickets
but I get 24% discount on all domestic and international air tickets using Magnus burgundy on traveledge, so I would value 12500 points at only Rs 9500.

So an expense of 5250 every year for --
unlimited International and domestic lounge access (I already have these)
1+1 ITC buffet.
2+1 night free ITC room (not worth it)
10000 Amazon pay with 12.71% return (around 10% after 24% discount)

Biz Black is definitely worth it if you have to pay a lot of tax.
1.5 lakh spends in the first 90 days will make it zero joining fee
Sorry to ask, but can you please explain how you get 24 % discount on flights?
Is it in form of reward points you earn or straight forward discount?

It's your rm. Go to credit card guy in hdfc and apply for floater
Talked to the RM . He said it will be done . Submitted the form in the branch . Got 2 Cibil hits ( Not sure why ) and then today the card got rejected . RM is saying that since you dont have a business , the card is rejected . You need to show proof that you have business and then it will be investigated and then you can get this card .

I guess , for this card also , they have tightened the screws .

They didn't ask me anything. Got it just last week as a floater. However, I have a decent TRV with them (in several crores). Sometimes it's just luck.
If one has any past relationship with HDFC, they would have already tagged that profile at backend - whether that individual has a business profession or not. Based on it they could issue without asking for supporting documents to prove business profession. This was case with me as well (no document asked), as I had previously enquired about a business loan (never took it though).

Just curious, are you a business owner? Then that would broadly prove above pt. And if not, then that would encourage even salaried folks to apply for BizBlack as well.

No, I don’t own any business and don’t do any sort of work either. I do have a reasonably high ITR (way above current requirements) but they have never asked for it. I do declare self employed but since I don’t have any company name or address, banks don’t like it. I got Amex only after the representative decided to declare me as “retired”. They had declined it earlier with ITR but provided a high limit after he declared retired and didn’t ask for any documents!

You can apply for Biz Black as floater of DCB Metal. Only criteria is your existing credit card limit should be > 5lacs. Just FYI - HDFC credit card team is asking for business proof before they approve Biz Black these days.
Thanks for replying , i am salaried person but will give a try once.

Can i apply biz black metal as floater of DCB Metal ? or i need to first upgrade to Infinia and then apply for Biz Black metal as floater ?
I actually tried getting BizBlack as floater to DCB metal. Didn't work. Apparently they are in same level (as per HDFC's internal criteria), and BizBlack as floater could be issued to only higher level card (like Infinia).

In fact, they asked me to close DCB metal first, as they can't issue two core cards. I did so, and then got BizBlack.

Also they would likely confirm business as profession.

All said, please still do try. Your luck may vary. Let us know if you succeed. 🙂
