Experience with SBI Rupay-JCB Debit Card

As my SBI MC Platinum card was close to expiry, I felt the need to look for a better card. Aftet reading @Abhishek012's post regarding SBI Rupay-JCB DC and the features it was offering, decided to go for it.

SBI Rupay-JCB card cannot be applied online, so had to visit the branch for it. So, I made visit to this branch for the first time. The branch looked like it was older than me. I felt I was back in the 80s. The branch belonged to State Bank of Patiala before its merger with SBI.

The overall process was smooth. The staff were polite. Things have started to improve lately in public sector banks. Even though in the first attempt, they sent me Rupay Platinum, they admitted their fault and helped me get the right card this time.

Got the card after 5 days delivered by India Post. The design is average though.

Got it primarily due to zero forex charges.

Do you have SBI JCB Rupay DC? Did it work on international sites for you? I tried in ATMs in Singapore and USA - worked fine so far but didn't work on single online or ecomm sites. Not much deal breaking since I use zero forex CC or Amex online mostly but I just found it very strange...

Currently work on selected International websites, few people already used and recurring payment websites are not supported.

Another reason for not accepting it in all international e-commerce platforms is that RuPay itself will expand its international e-commerce payment services.

I agree with that for most part but bank declines transaction on every damn site. I have ICICI Rupay CC and it works everywhere Discover works...

Sometimes, there are issues with International ECOM activation from Bank's side.

Anyway, discover/diners club is best for online ecom transaction and JCB is best for offline/POS/ATM.

Maybe! Should I go to Ombudsman for this lol 😂
SBI RuPay JCB Platinum DC atleast working offline or selected websites online.

One person was saying that his Union Bank of India RuPay JCB Platinum Debit Card and Central Bank of India RuPay JCB Platinum Debit Card didn’t work for international offline transactions anywhere.

Now, since it's a PSU bank, who will you complain to? Private banks have great support.

For example, someone here mentioned that his AU Bank RuPay Discover Credit Card wasn’t working at international POS/ATMs. He filed a complaint and AU Bank took action within 24 hours, fixed the issue and the card started working the next day.

Private banks provide better service and on complaints, take immediate action to permanently fix the bug.

Tired to use it on Amazon.com US site..
Immediately after entering the card details, it detected card as 'Rupay' and the message was displayed as "Card is not supported".

Ya, when RuPay will expand to E-com International websites, RuPay JCB will accept.

Very few International websites currently accept RuPay-JCB Cards.

however, RuPay-Discover card is accepted on Amazon USA.
