Experience with SBI Rupay-JCB Debit Card

As my SBI MC Platinum card was close to expiry, I felt the need to look for a better card. Aftet reading @Abhishek012's post regarding SBI Rupay-JCB DC and the features it was offering, decided to go for it.

SBI Rupay-JCB card cannot be applied online, so had to visit the branch for it. So, I made visit to this branch for the first time. The branch looked like it was older than me. I felt I was back in the 80s. The branch belonged to State Bank of Patiala before its merger with SBI.

The overall process was smooth. The staff were polite. Things have started to improve lately in public sector banks. Even though in the first attempt, they sent me Rupay Platinum, they admitted their fault and helped me get the right card this time.

Got the card after 5 days delivered by India Post. The design is average though.

Got it primarily due to zero forex charges.

yes but beware it will show as cash advance in your card , even the lady from the bank asking me to use credit card but I told her it's a credit card and hand over my debit card , didn't want to spend too much fess for withdrawal. but they are very helpful , they suggest me that I can use their atm to withdow and I told her yes I know but I don't want to pay 220 bhat that's why I am using this one and they are ok about it . Bankgkok and pattya both have AEON atm wich charge 150 bhat you can also try that .
One thing bank with not do any cash transfer after 4 so if you planing to withdrow cash from bank visit before 4.
And for rupay card if they say this not allow ask them use as diner club/discover card it will work happen with my tata neu rupay card while lounge access

Thank you for the detailed explanation.

I thought swiping card to get money will be considered as some shopping transaction. My port of entry will be HKT. I'll try getting cash from branch this way.

few suggestion use klook app to get sim it wil be cheaper and you can pay in india and collect the sim in phuket airport just don't forgot to take the qr code screenshot , and show it to dtact /AIs store in airport it will be cheaper than getting sim directly there . use share transport from airport it will cost very cheap like 150 bhat and it will drop directly your hotel just say your hotel name in the counter and that it they will make sure you reach your hotel and the car is very nice.
if you planing to carry some cash try orinect exchange for thai bhat they are the one give best reate and also they deliver directly to your home .
one request please be polite and respect there culture as thai people are very polite but some indian take thisa as a advantage and missuse it , so indian have very bad reputaion there , during our trip to chiang mai one of the leady tour guide share how 5 indian group try to molest her and we fell so bad when she say not all are same but this is the first time it's happen with her .

Whats the limit of daily withdrawal in jcb card is it same in rupay and visa or different?

Whats the limit of daily withdrawal in jcb card is it same in rupay and visa or different?
There is no relation between card network and card withdrawal/spend limit.

Classic variant lower limit,
Platinum variant - high limit.
Other Super premium cards - Super high limit.

SBI RuPay JCB is Platinum variant. You will get higher limit.

Has anybody tried this card on PayPal or other generic foreign online purchases?

Does it work reliably (or is it a hit or a miss), and does it offer 0% markup online?
Yes, 0% markup online (Paypal India not supported RuPay-JCB variant Card), use direct payment.

@Walter White Bande ne Harvard university me payment kiya tha online. 🤣🤣

I had already read that, but was looking for more confirmed use cases to determine acceptability before asking for it at a SBI branch.

Would PayPal potentially accept this? And do most foreign payment processors (Stripe etc) accept payments on this?

If I pick up the card, but it's hit and miss on the reliability front for acceptability online, then it would be a bit of a disappointment.

Paypal India not supported RuPay-JCB variant Card.

Stripe ? no idea, I think Stripe accept UPI payment. 😀😀

Many US and European websites direct accept JCB Cards.

I have use this card in my recent Europ trip and try to cash withdrew, I must say it really hard to find a atm that acept this card and for those atm acepting this card had a higher charge like 8-14 % conversation charge luckily I had a indus exclusive card which work like charm only one atm I use to check the withdraw it work didn't get any extra charge even after one month, so if your plaing for Eu atm better keep an backup card.

Which Card ? i mean SBI RuPay JCB Debit card or you used any other bank RuPay JCB Card ?

people have had a good experience with POS transactions in the USA, Europe, Middle East, and Asia.

Everyone has mentioned having a good experience with ATM withdrawals in Asia and the Middle East.
