Accor Plus Membership Purchase : The Do's and Don'ts for Maximizing Your Benefits. | Hand on purchase experience

I was saying out loud avoid this membership. If companies are paying commission to people to induce FOMO = Bad for customers and good for Accor
If you are buying traveller membership for 4000 pts it's totally worth it.
I already used the 1 + 1 spa and complimentary buffet at grand Mercure.
Total saved = 10k approx just by these two vouchers.
50% off for 2 people on dining any number of times is crazy good if you have good Accor restaurants nearby.

It's way better than ITC Culinaire which has like 3 discount vouchers in a year.

Agreed, that the cost of membership can be covered easily by the vouchers themselves. But, disappointed with the fact that you don’t get Accor Plus rates for many hotels (and if you do, you can’t pay by points).
Also no extra discounts on being a silver member, even though it was claimed by OP and other people here.

In short, go for the membership only for the vouchers (if you can use them), and other minor benefits like late check out, welcome drink, etc

True.
For South East Asia you'll find plenty of hotels offering Accor plus rates.

Welcome drink is a good add-on. It's not the drink that's present at the reception. They'll give you a welcome drink coupon. You can order pretty much any non-alcoholic beverage from the menu and select cocktails , wine and beer. This is how it was in Mercure.
Gold is something we should aim for and maintain. A free room upgrade each time is nice feature.

I see that after few weeks of upgrade (Accor plus), I now see option to book via points. Earlier for the same hotel(s), I could not see that option. It appears that something changed and now the feature is back.

The remaining issue for me is axis to Accor transfer. I have tried with old number and waiting to see if transfer works.

india hotels booking with points via app?

Hi friends,

This is a rather extensive thread, and I've made an effort to review most of the pages. However, I still have some inquiries regarding the Accor Plus membership (Explorer). My questions are as follows:
  1. The terms and conditions state that we receive vouchers/certificates in hard copy, but during my online chat with the support team, they mentioned that only digital copies would be provided. Could you clarify what exactly I will receive and in what format (hard copy or soft copy)?
  2. I've noticed a list of over 50 vouchers, covering various categories such as dining, accommodation, spa, and more. My question is whether I can use all of them, assuming if I can visit the respective locations? Are there any limitations? For instance, there are 14 "COMPLIMENTARY BUFFET FOR TWO" vouchers, of which 6 are easily accessible to me. Does this mean I can use all of them? Are these buffet vouchers valid without staying at the hotel?
  3. Could you please outline the process for booking the "COMPLIMENTARY BUFFET FOR TWO" vouchers? Is it possible to make reservations online, or do I need to visit the hotel in person?
I apologize if these questions have already been addressed elsewhere. Thank you for your assistance!

1. Soft copy
2. No limits, no need for stay
3. Can book online on accor dine option and then call hotel and tell that u will be using these vouchers.

If there was no 1+1 spa would you have taken the SPA? Was it not a case of forced spending

I would have.
Without the voucher I would have paid the full amount with points. Now I paid half amount with points.
If I didn't have Accor points would I still go to Tattva spa, probably not. It's quite expensive tbh.

It works only with the old IDs only in my case.

Do the points have the same value when used for spa, i.e., 2000 points = 40 euros?

Someone mentioned here that u need to pay certain minimum amount in cash to get status nights.

I think it works even if u pay that minimum amount using points at property (not online).

I had one booking, which was paid online, but I used more points at hotel for lunch/dinner and then got status night for them. Although, status points was only for cash part.

Also, I did few bookings (not yet completed). Most of them are all paid using points (except few 100s). They are not showing any status points to be earned on booking page.

But one of them has around 20 euro remaining and I got it paid in advance by calling the hotel directly as well (it is same as dedication after check-in). And for this one, it shows status points/nights.

So, to be safe side, u can book this and later take some lunch/dinner and add it to hotel bill and pay that too using points. That will at least give status night.
Adding some more points to this.

Booked 3 hotels in thailand.
1. Ibis - Flexible rate, Paid 6000 points online, 1000 points offline, 40 by card. No status points, reward points and status nights. Raised to support and no update yet. But i expect them to credit nights at least.

2. Grand Mercure - Prepaid rate, Paid 8000 points online and 400 by card. Got about 400 normal and 100 accor plus bonus points, but only one status night instead of 2. Raised to support for status night. They deducted those 500 points and credited just 14 points saying amount paid via reward points not eligible for reward points 😭, but at least they credited the 2 status nights to help towards gold.

3. Ibis - Non refundable rate, paid 2000 points online and 40 by card. Got about 50 normal +10 accor plus bonus points and 2 status nights. Didn't complaint as all were as expected. Haven't got reversed yet. I also got one bonus status night here, as a part of flying blue partnership, not sure if this is just one time thing, as I didn't get it with grand Mercure booking above.

So, in summary, I think status nights will always be credited irrespective of how u pay (contacting customer care would be needed sometimes depending on luck).

But reward/status points will only be on amount paid using card. If u got more, it will get reversed later.

There is a very simple logic to get status night. Always pay more than 10 Euro in cash/card. Or during the stay add something from restaurant or inroom dining to the room bill. Settle this amount during checkout using Credit Card or Cash.

You will always get the required number of status nights.

Read point 2 and 3, i only paid 400 and 40, didn't add anything during stay and still got status night. There isn't any minimum amount.
