NPCI is planning to launch RuPay credit cards with all credit card issuing banks in the next few years. NPCI currently focusing to get the banks ready, enabled and certified.

You should know RuPay has 3 variants of credit cards -

1) RuPay Classic (Standard/Basic card) - equivalent to Visa/mastercard classic.

2) RuPay Platinum (Premium card) - equivalent to Visa/mastercard Platinum

3) RuPay Select (Super Premium card) - equivalent to Visa Signature and mastercard World.

Now Before start one last and important thing, you guys should know. Banks never discrimination between Visa/mastercard vs RuPay. What does it mean ?

This means that if your Visa credit card is life time free then the same variant RuPay credit card will also be life time free or if you change your existing life time free Visa card to RuPay then your new RuPay variant card comes by default life time free.

2nd thing, Any offers given by banks are also applicable on your RuPay credit cards too like Axis, HDFC, ICICI, SBI CARD, BOB etc 10% discount offers on Amazon and Flipkart or other e-commerce websites (Ofcourse sometimes newly launch RuPay card is not eligible for e-commerce discount offers but that doesn't mean banks discrimination between Visa/mastercard vs RuPay. It simply meaning your card is new, bank systems are not updated, wait for few months or complaint to banks they will soon fix it. In fact, newly launch Yes bank Visa & RuPay both credit cards and few months back one person told Axis Magnus Visa Credit card is not working on e-com discount offers). So i hope it's clear. All bank offers are eligible on RuPay credit cards too.

1) HDFC Bank - RuPay Bharat Cashback, RuPay IndianOil, RuPay Moneyback+, RuPay Freedom New Credit card is available and already customers are getting this cards on RuPay.

ICICI RuPay card service is best on domestic payment. No idea about foreign transaction.

Almost all private banks offered best service on RuPay card payment (ICICI, HDFC. Axis, AU bank, NSDL, Paytm, Yes bank and Few other small finance bank).

Public sector banks and other govt banks RuPay card service is horrible.

Private banks invest huge money on their servers, payment gateways, also use their own technical service provider companies etc.

That's why private bank cards give best service. Doesn't matter you have Private banks Visa/MC/(DCB/AMEX) or RuPay.

Some features like gpay, samsungpay, international transactions, EMI, Recurring payment etc currently not available on RuPay that's why Private banks prefer Visa/MC/(DCB/AMEX).

Another side, mostly all PSU banks use 3rd party servers, payment gateways, also use 3rd party technical service provider etc.

This 3rd party servers and technical service provider also charges based on their low, premium, ultra premium tiers.

Some PSU banks like Indian bank, Canara bank, PNB bank and other small govt banks choose low tier plans for all digital transactions.

Since, PSU banks mostly issue RuPay cards that's why customers even bank employees assume RuPay card service is horrible.

All Card/UPI transactions are proceed by banks. 99.99% times bank's fault for any transaction failure or refund problem etc.

You can also easily understand, why some PSU banks UPI service is horrible but some Private banks UPI service is Best of the best.

Its all depend on how much money banks invest on their digital payment products.

RuPay card have partnership with all technical service provider companies across the world.

Now the banks have to choose how much money they want to spend.

Another fact is that Visa/mastercard dnt interested to partnership with any small technical service provider companies and Visa/mastercard also dnt interested to issue cards on small banks. Visa/mastercard also charge huge money to join their network.

RuPay card is for everyone, every banks/fintech companies etc. If you have money you will get RuPay's world class service, if you dnt have money then can also join and issue RuPay cards but your bank/fintech companies service will be horrible.

No but you can conversion to Moneyback+ RuPay credit card.

last week, one person told me, he got pre-approved Business MoneyBack Visa credit card.

Since, Business MoneyBack is not available on RuPay. So, he ask for Moneyback+ RuPay.

HDFC bank agree but he got Moneyback+ Visa then again he request for Moneyback+ RuPay and got the card.

Same thing you should also try.

Got the card within one week I did a onetime transaction of +₹500 so that I can get the vouchers worth ₹1500. I didn't bother to chase, spend 30k in 90 days for another set of ₹1500 worth vouchers as I was given CC with no conditions LTF.

On 10th August I wrote to priorityredressal.creditcards@hdfcbank.com requesting them to change variant to Rupay or Diners. On 18th got mail offering Moneyback+ LTF Rupay, I accepted the offer and sent back scan copy of upgrade form via an email on 19th. On 21st got SMS regarding upgraded CC, on checking netbanking found that it is Moneyback+ VISA. I immediately wrote back. On 22nd Moneyback+ VISA got dispatched from Chennai. On 23rd Moneyback+ Rupay got issued, dispatched on the same day from Noida. Received both CC's one day after the other.

Last thing he told on 1st, sept, 2022, "Just awhile ago received ₹1500 worth voucher, which I redeemed for Amazon GV."

On 21st got SMS regarding upgraded CC, on checking netbanking found that it is Moneyback+ VISA. I immediately wrote back. On 22nd Moneyback+ VISA got dispatched from Chennai. On 23rd Moneyback+ Rupay got issued, dispatched on the same day from Noida. Received both CC's one day after the other.

Last thing he told on 1st, sept, 2022, "Just awhile ago received ₹1500 worth voucher, which I redeemed for Amazon GV."

Have emailed them again for spend-based LTF (not just annual reversal). If they don't agree, will try again after few months of usage.
