Devaluation Amex Gyftr going to add 0.75% fee on Amazon Pay vouchers from Feb 1st

Effective 1 February 2025, a 0.75% convenience fee + GST will be charged on the purchase of Amazon Pay and Amazon Shopping gift vouchers via e-voucher platform on Reward Multiplier.

Amex has also joined the bandwagon of charging convenience fee on Amazon vouchers. Firstly there is shortage of high denomination Amazon pay vouchers and now this. Received this mail for Plat travel card.

If you intend to earn those points through Apay voucher purchase in Reward multiplier and then redeem those MR points for Amazon/Flipkart voucher in Gold collection then no.
I am scoring those 1000 points monthly by purchasing Apay vouchers from multiplier, my main purpose to get MR points to use for flight tickets, currently I am standing at 36K points I don't know how much points I need to travel on International trip. Amex is hardly accepted by any offline store and few payment gateways like Razorpay not supporting Amex cards.

Cancelled my mrcc today, better to deal with straight cashback cards instead of this circus.

If you are planning to transfer to an airline partner and have done your math with regards to the destination/route revenue rates vs redemption rates then it’s your call. From what I can see those who are spending to get points basis rewards multiplier through Apay voucher purchase and redemption for Apay/Flipkart Gold collection the return comes to less than 5% in case of MRCC/Gold Charge.

That's some attitude from a virtually online only credit card! Amex is useless for offline spends as noone outside Gurugram accepts it! The base reward isn't much to talk about as such on a card like the MRCC. Reward Multiplier and the milestones are the high points for the card. People would never have Amex as a primary card for obvious reasons, so they would have other cards that are likely to give better rewards. Amazon vouchers are one effective source to use the card, now they are effectively saying don't use the card, pay the yearly fees! Ridiculous from Amex!
Perhaps for the time being, one can buy the vouchers from Amazon directly, but then Amazon has got its own restrictions and limits, meaning you may not be able to use CC for buying vouchers regularly from Amazon. Have a couple of insurance payments lined up, thinking to just go with the Neu Infinity and forget all these nonsense from Amex!

So now you have to Pay 636 Inr more per year if you want to get that 4 transaction per month thing where there is 72k spend yearly .... its like an increase in annual fee for mrcc and gold charge by 636 Inr....
The fee is fine. On ₹240,000 worth of Amazon vouchers, convenience fee will be ₹2,124 against 24,000 points. That's peanuts! What's not fine is ₹250 vouchers. Unless they add higher denomination vouchers starting from February, I don't see how it makes sense to pay convenience fee for ₹250 vouchers.

Amex gyftr don't have any maximum limit on purchasing GVs? I mean will you be able to purchase GVs worth ₹240000 from one amex gyftr alone?

//Edit: Nevermind, I thought ₹240000 worth of GVs in 1 month.
