You would get a mail from Amex with subject "Important update on the status of your application"

That mail would have the reason specified .
DO you know, if I give my sister's address ( in a metro city) would I get through? When doing VKYC would they ask for a id proof with that particular address or is it just PAN card verification?

Even many online sites do not accept Amex. Leave aside offline. Few months back when I had checked, even sites such as Pharmeasy don't accept Amex
Don't have high hopes with Amex acceptance .
If you are a heavy buyer or vouchers post Magnus devaluatuin Amex is the best option available out there as hdfc has started taking transaction charges over ASV .
Also if you have gold charge, you can enjoy 0 surcharge at Hpcl ( for all amex cards ) + Regular MR points + 1000*6 transaction would give 1000 bonus MR too

They would check if aadhar has same address or not , if not they would ask show to any other government ID proof that has current address specified.
Serviceable address is a must for Amex

I have Amex MRCC & HDFC Infinia (got recently). I guess Infinia will still be better for ASV/AGC even after considering the transaction charges. Milked MRCC for 1500*4 for last couple of years but finding no good use now post Infinia acquisition

Yeah that's true , but you can't compare infinia with MRCC or gold charge , the later are available at less than half the price .

But transaction charges on vouchers just beats the purpose . Think of it like this if you can buy something from Az at 2500 Rs , the same item you are buying around 2700 Rs , that's instant 200 Rs loss . Buying ASV or AP from smartbuy would be a complete MS as per me.

Where as Amex or Even axis might not give you high return like smartbuy but the are giving the mix of both world by not taking any transaction fees and also giving decent return on reward multipliers

This issue is mainly with lower variant HDFC cards btw (e.g. Regalia, Millennia, even DCB). Infinia even after transaction charges gives a solid 16%+ returns on both APV/ASV, which is the highest returns on these GVs currently possible.
