Amex charged my two cards for 10k points purchased. Complaint raised on 21st dec still they need 5-6 days to review this. is this the support amex is boasted about?

Was the request raised just once or twice? Also, did you get 10K points or 20K?

Also, I would suggest writing an email or getting on-call support, they seem to be somewhat better in terms of service.

Request raised once only ..same reference no is used for follow up. i got only 10k points . emailed also 3-4 days ago but even not received any acknowledgement mail.

These guys are no better than axis bank customer care team, only difference is on some things like retention and fee reversal amex india tells their callers to be generous. When it comes to actual issues amex reps are as clueless or more clueless than the idiots at axis bank

Same here I placed request on 24th July still no response and same standard scripted reply from 24th till date they are asking 48hrs more. I had to blast them yesterday for poor service. One says under process another says pending no update fro. Their business team. It has become worst even on plat chg service and they say premium service and on chat all the more worse. Customer service pathetic now.

Yes Amex support is really going downhill even the so called platinum support. O had hard time renewing my insurance from Amex and also quite a few other support requests were denied / extremely slow to resolve.
To add to above AMEX acceptance is going to all time low with serious charges being asked if Amex cards are to be used.

I hope someone in AMEX checks this thread.

They reply fast, they reply very nicely, and they often assure solutions.

But the backend? Slow, inefficient!

I tried their services a few times and far from happy.

I requested them twice to help me pickup my passport from Delhi and deliver it to another T1 city to me, it took them two weeks to raise a quote of like 1k and another week where they went missing after I accepted it.
Jumped into Bluedart and did it online myself in 5 minutes, they picked it up two hours later and I got it the next day. A week after I received the package I get a call from AMEX confirming they will proceed with the request, nearly a month later...

Another request regarding a visa application, I have a non-Indian passport I'd like to use for a visa.
Embassy states clearly it's the same visa form plus passport photo, passport itself and no other docs (Indian passport actually requires additional financial docs).
Got denied from AMEX after a week, telling me they only service Indian passports despite being the same process with less documents required.

Tried a few restaurant reservations within and outside India. Both were useless, I actually managed to book a table for myself by calling or doing it online after I was told they were booked out by AMEX. It hasn't happened once or twice, we are like around ~70% of attempted restaurant reservations end up in failure, and half of these times I managed to get myself into the restaurant...

Another one time I wanted to avail a hotel offer. It says clearly on the offer to call AMEX Concierge/lifestyle services to book it, I call to avail it and I get told to email or call another number to book it... Not great... It was buried down deep into TNC that you can reach a specific number or email to avail the offer, or just reach out to concierge and they'll do it for you. I asked the agent if they could do it for me, nope!

It's been plenty of disappointments overall in the past year.

Now relatively speaking, on customer service pertaining directly to their financial business or their travel services is very good, all the other banks are absolute garbage...

But for a 70k+ card offering a Do Anything concierge that is absolutely fucking useless, not great. Best they'll do is travel services, anything over that just forget it or do it yourself.

Even reaching out to their concierge is a big pain in the ass. You can ONLY call them, you can't chat them. Specially overseas or when traveling it's a big pain in the ass.

Their travel services are equally hopeless. except for few sectors and airlines where they have tie ups, their quotes are more expensive and that too they take a day to respond.
Worst is they try to push their preferred partner airlines even if their timings are wierd. Even their so called corporate service Amex GBT has been outsourced and they are incompetent.
Once they gave itinerary of only 1 hr layover at Amsterdam which anyone who has even once been to Schipol airport will know that its nearly impossible to do as it involves passport control and security. As so called experts in travel services, they should know this - they had one job and even failed at that.

Finally after I threatened them will shoot a email to CEO of card services abt the issue of request amd calls today by noon I got a call and was given a reference no that 1lkh MR points was approved as welcome gift instead of voucher and person who spoke said it recorded line and I too told him I am also recording the call. It took them 13 calenderdays and 9 wk days to resolve the request after I threatened will send email to CEO or Post mail and raised complaint
And said will close all relationship. This one really worked faster than I thought as they were again asking time till thos firday but got a call after an hour and issue resolved

This has nothing to do with bad service but rather self entitlement...

How is this self entitlement? Amex had committed that they will call correct? Do you really expect such bad service after paying 70k in fees? And he is not wrong in demanding 100k MRs. If amex was so honest then they should not value the benefits of Amex plat at more than 2 lakh.. Whereas in reality the benefits are not even worth 20 % of their claimed value.

Fyi.. Hdfc infinia at 14k fees have infinitely better support than Amex.

If it was self entitlement I could have demanded more than this and would have really shot a letter to CEO for deficiency in service and I had to postpone my travels because of the timescale they had given. It is not self entitlement for service rendered below their standard. I have rights to demand it. Else I would not have bothered.
