Any way to get HDFC core credit card for Co-brabded cc holders

I know a lot of ppl here facing this issue

Has anyone here started with an HDFC co-branded credit card and later successfully got an HDFC core credit card without closing co-branded one?

A common issue that I’ve noticed is that if you get your first credit card from HDFC as a co-branded card, it becomes quite challenging to obtain a core HDFC credit card later on. For those who’ve been through this, you might understand how tricky it can be to add a core HDFC card to your portfolio.

I’m curious to know if anyone has managed to navigate this hurdle and successfully received an HDFC core credit card after starting with a co-branded one. If you did, could you share how you went about it?

I have sent email that Iam having Paytm select hdfc credit card from last 1.5 year with cc limit 1 lakh . That I want to upgrade to core hdfc card as I’m not getting any offers in e-commerce and offline store . I want to upgrade to millinea cc

Sent mail - Nov 4th

Reply mail - Nov 12th to sent consent on the same mail with reply..asked 4 questions
1) last four dights
2) card fee agree or not
3) rewards migration or not
4)check eleigibity or not
Answer all with yes in the same email no need to send scanned copies

Nov 16th — received email that they have processed request, card will be dispatched in 2-3 days .. Checked my cards for confirmation it is showing millinea card

Boom no CIBIL hits, no need to close cc and apply againView attachment 74907

TBH, I want the Neu Infinity as it is my daily driver, but they're ready to upgrade the TATA Neu Infinity to the Millennia credit card instead of issuing me a floater card. The Millennia is a good card, but I already have the SBI Cashback card, and HDFC is offering the Millennia as FYF, not LTF. So...

Here’s my dilemma:

  1. TATA Neu Infinity is my primary card, and I use it heavily for daily transactions.
  2. I aim to eventually qualify for core cards like the HDFC DCB or Infinia in the future.
  3. I don’t feel this upgrade to Millennia is fair, especially since I wanted to retain the Neu Infinity card and have the Millennia as a floater card.
Should I:
  • Ignore the upgrade offer and wait to request a floater card in the future.
  • Accept the upgrade despite it not being LTF, considering it may help my profile for core cards later?
Your insights and opinions are greatly appreciated!

An HDFC banker confirmed regarding similar query, that via manual upgrade route; HDFC only gives paid cards by default.

What is Infinia Millenia credit card? 😀
review your request for Infinia Millenia credit card

Frankly, Neu Infinity to Millenia is more of downgrade than upgrade. Especially if you are using it regularly. If Neu infinity is LTF, I will definitely will not consider 'upgrade' to Millenia. If it is not and if you can take hit for like 6 months, you can get it upgraded now. And re-apply for Neu Infinity after 6 months.

Re-apply? Is it possible? afaik, once we close TATA neu cards the app will not allow us to apply again.
r u sure it is possible after 6 months.

You will need to apply from HDFC site. It should be possible. Also, try removing card from Tata Neu after cancelation. Take Neu support help if it is not removed.

I applied for tata neu as i didn't have cibil they offer fd tata neu and i applied for it
Can I apply for unsecured hdfc cc after building cibil
On salary base
You can always try. If not you may need to close existing card or upgrade similar to @Fini7777.

I have got core card after co-branded card (and many / few others) from HDFC. But HDFC always run in 'Meri Marzi' mode.

My approximate timeline with HDFC is like this -

April 2023: Applied and got Neu plus FYF (1.25L)
July 2023: Closed Neu plus permanently.
November 2023: Appplied and got Swiggy (Paid, 1.25L)
September 2024: Credit limit of swiggy increased to 1.52L
October 2024: Applied and got Neu infinity.

During this time I haven't tried for the core card, but give it a try through their link and see what offers are coming for you.

[I just googled for HDFC credit card application and followed the first link to the bank site]

@SSV can decode this URL if needed. but anyway, give it a try. I think some core cards should come up for you.

Then try to get another card like Swiggy card and try to apply for upgrade on that card a bit later.
Follow this method if you dearly miss TN infinity card,

Otherwise follow what others said, take upgrade now and reapply for TN Infinity 6 months later
I applied for the Swiggy CC. My current NEU Infinity card has a limit close to ₹2L, but during the application process for the Swiggy card, the estimated limit displayed was ₹1.2L, which seems unusual. Ideally, the estimated limit should match my existing card's limit, right?

If the Swiggy card gets approved, I'll consider upgrading it later as you suggested. Otherwise, I'll think about upgrading my NEU Infinity card instead.
