What you have to understand is:
For example: FK plans to sell 1 lakh 14 plus phones..this season
Out of this, they earmark 1,000 for the lowest price say: 60K..
Then they want to sell 99,000 units at 63K.. (this is the plan, and the numbers are guesses only, but it will give you the idea behind this strategy)...

Now tell me how to select these 1,000 users??
That is the reason why last time they failed at the checkout or/ didn't deliver ..
Becauese there were too many orders processed at the lowest price than they have anticipated.. hence failures / non - fulfillment..

To avoid this embarassement, they introduced this non- refundable passes, which provies them some number about who is really intersted in so that they can do their pricing accordingly..

The main aim of this Pass is to eliminate non- serious buyers.. so that they can quantify the real demand.
I want to buy and I will buy.. I am confident FK provides me the lowest price and guaranteed stock..

This Pass is not for someone who has uncertain ideas about the purchase...

There are 2 scenarios here.

1. They got the required interest / bookings in terms of number of phones they want to sell at the lowest price. As you said earlier, some x% of phones will only be sold at lowest price
2. Make it as sold out, create FOMO and then relaunch it at later date before 6th to get more bookings

Gauging demand and all is fine. My guess is that they already know the demand. As demand for iPhone plus @60K will always surpass supply. May be they will gauge demand to increase allocation of lowest price stock %, but thats about it.

Another reason for this is that while it is not openly acknowledged, FK gets scammed by resellers a lot more than what we think (compared to what we think FK scams common people). Main reason for iPhones getting sold out within seconds and servers getting jammed is due to army of resellers who attack the systems and resell the phones later at higher price. A genuine buyer suffers then.

Now one may ask that resellers can also buy these prebooking passes and still benefit. But from what I understand from this thread itself, not everyone is getting an option to prebook. Only genuine buyers as per their algorithms have got this banner to pre book at 2K

I liked this Pass concept and it benefits a genuine buyer ( by weeding out the crap) ..

Yeah last time I couldn't buy anything.. so yeah price was increased drastically. So yeah this pass thing is really beneficial this tike around. Last year on bbd I tried to buy iPhone till 2-3 am and I couldn't checkout. Screenshot_20231003_115922.jpg

I am not speculating , I am stating the fact that in what case I will be disappointed..
I am very confident that I will get the best price with guaranteed stock.
I explained why I think so in various posts..
It is not a gut feel thing..
I am not at all anxious about D day..
